Lowell Joya

Senior Lowell Joya notched his 100th career win during action at the Zionsville 8-way on Saturday.

ZIONSVILLE – The Lion wrestling team traveled to Zionsville for an 8-way tournament and finished the day with a 2-2 record.

On the day, Lowell Joya set a milestone for his career by notching his 100th career victory for the Lions. Joya picked up the win in the final round against Mt. Vernon (Posey) as he went 4-0 on the day.

Nick Lawler also went 4-0 on the day for the Lions.

Matthew Bertram and Marcus Malson each had three wins. Braiden Hunter, Adam Bousman, Garrett Bergen, and Devin Richardson all had two wins. Tuff Tackett, Conner Ervin, Dylan Galusha, and Alan Busche all had one win.

The Rushville Lions improved their record to 20-11 on the season. The Lions notched wins against Frankfort 38-34 and Zionsville B 46-33. The Lions lost a close match to Noblesville 40-29 to finish out pool play before dropping the final dual of the day to Mt. Vernon (Posey) 51-15.

The Lions will be in action at 6 p.m. Wednesday for Senior Night as they host Decatur Central.
