The BRMS wrestlers traveled to Greenfield Middle School for their to open the season and the locals came out on top with their first victory by the score of 59-40.

“For many of these kids it was their first time ever to wrestle in a real match. I think they did a very good job and I am sure they will work hard to get better,” noted BRMS coach Jack Day.

At 85, Coy Estes won by decision over Zach Young. At 90, Adam Wagner lost a close match to Kyle Worland. At 100, Sarah Schlechtweg lost a close decision to Josh Knuckles. At 105, Jacob Dodd lost by fall to Zach Heald. Zach Yazel won by forfeit at 110.

At 115, Collin Hillon won by fall over Drake Ziegles. At120, Joe Hunter won by fall over Evan Myers. Jon Flannery pinned Davey Ecks in the 125 match.

At 130, Tyler Bussberg pinned Chris Blagg. Jordon Lightner lost the 135 match by decision to Zach Petry. At 140, Austin Walker won by fall over Austin Wilbuin.

Mike Newton won by forfeit at 145 and Adam Meyer won by forfeit at 150. Zach Truster won the 180 match by decision over Dakota Gruell. At 210, Alex Leisure lost by fall and at heavyweight, Blake Gray lost by decision to Jacob Johns.

In exhibition matches, Adam Wagner won by decision over Toney Mesterson; Sarah Schlechtweg lost by decision to Desman McGinnley; Shane Yager lost by decision to Drake Ziegler; Sean Murphy lost to Evan Myers; Scott McMahon won by fall over Davey Ecks; Curtis Schwering lost to Chris Blagg; and Jeremy Komlanc lost to Zach Perry.

The Cubs travel to Doe Creek at 6 p.m Tuesday.
