The Benjamin Rush eighth grade “Black” lost a heartbreaker 41-39 to New Castle.

The Cubs trailed 21-15 at the half, 30-27 after three quarters and missed a shot at the buzzer as the excellent effort came up short.

The Cubs were led by Blaek Combs with 17 points, two rebounds and four steals. Center Alex Spears chipped in seven points and four rebounds. Point guard Daniel Schilling contributed five points, two rebounds and four steals. Eric Wagner had three points followed by Jordan Hoeing two, Derek Kessler two, Casey West two and Jameson Jacobs one.

The Cubs defeated Shelbyville 41-37. BRMS trailed 18-14 at the half and trailed 25-23 after three quarters before scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Kessler led Rushville with 11 points. Combs scored nine points and had five rebounds and five assists. Schilling added nine points, four rebounds and five assists. Hoeing scored six points followed by Jacobs two, West two and Spears two.

BRMS "Black" travels to Richmond on Monday and the "Red" teams host Laurel.
