The 94th running of the Rush County Fair is off and running and continues through Saturday. A number of track events are planned, along with 4-H projects and sights to see. As previously reported, Tony Stewart will return to race locally, both Wednesday and Thursday, at the Rush County Fairgrounds track the site where he gained is first win in 1989.
Since that first victory, Stewart has had a storied career in racing which includes championship seasons in both IndyCar and NASCAR. While speaking locally during the May Knights of Columbus Race Night event, the Columbus native said he is once again looking forward to returning to the track where it all began.
Since retiring from racing on a full-time basis at the end of the 2016 NASCAR season, Stewart races roughly 90 times annually in TQ midget and sprint races across the country.
Organizers are hoping for a large turnout and as a means to give back locally and in conjunction with the Rush County Fair Board as $1 from each admission to the Wednesday’s race will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County.
