Steaming forward this weekend

Rushville painter and artist Ed Dickson was found putting some touch up work on a CASE Steam Engine Monday afternoon at Caldwell Acres prior to Thursday’s opening of annual Pioneer Engineers Club Steam Show and reunion.

Beginning Thursday, the 71st running of the Pioneer Engineers Club of Indiana event will kick off the annual four-day show. The event will run through Sunday at Caldwell Acres located roughly three miles south west of Rushville and is easily accessible: SR 3 south to CR 325S then west roughly one mile. Four day passes are available at the gate for $10 with single day passes priced at $5, children under the age of 12 are fee.

A number of large steam engines have already arrived in preparation of the annual show. This year, Case Steam Engines, tractors and Oilfield engines are the featured entries and a large show ground area of those featured items is located just inside the main entrance to the show grounds.

Organizers are pleased with the number of entries already on the grounds and clear skies and sunny weather are forecasted throughout the event.

Daily activities include a parade of tractors, working machine and wood working shops, sawmilling, field events and threshing, to name a few.

One of the must see events’ is the Spark Show (Old Time Fireworks) that will be held after dark Friday evening.
