Shares Inc. to host Survivor Soiree

Shares, Inc. has been a fixture in Rush and surrounding counties for a number of years. On a daily basis, the organization plays an instrumental role in improving the lives of individuals with various disabilities through teaching resources, education and instruction and then job placement in the market place.

Shares is a not-for-profit agency and first opened its local workshop doors in 1984 as a means to provide job training. Since that time, the growth in the number of individuals with disabilities in the workforce has increased dramatically and is due in large part to the changes in both the community’s perception and the companies that gain a firsthand look in the value of the product provided and services exemplified by those with disabilities.

Shares Inc. has locations in Rush, Shelby and Hancock counties and has expanded services it offers by adding a safe and secure means to shred and dispose of sensitive documents through the Shelby County location.

Shares Inc. is hosting a Survivor Soiree beginning with a 6 p.m. happy hour and a Survivor challenge to follow at 7 p.m. Aug. 2.

The event will be held at the Indiana Grand Racing and Casino Clubhouse in Shelbyville.

Supporters of Shares Inc. efforts will compete for a grand prize of $2,500. Television reality star and Indianapolis resident Rupert Boneham will be on hand as a celebrity guest at the event.

Sponsors for the event are still being sought with a variety of financial support levels:

Partner Sponsor - $250

Ally Sponsor - $500

Returning Player Sponsor - $1,000

All Star Sponsor - $5,000

Sole Survivor $10,000

Individual tickets for the evening are $50 and should be purchased in advance by calling (317) 398-8218, ext. 311.

Organizers were quick to add the success of the event is paramount on sponsors and participation. Aside from monetary sponsorships, gift baskets are also being sought as prizes for the Survivor event.
