GREENFIELD – On Sept. 5, the Greenfield Police Department concluded a long term investigation of theft and Fraud from PJ’s Beauty College. Detectives with the Greenfield Police Department were contacted by students from PJ’s Beauty College reference tuition checks missing.
Checks were sent PJ’s Beauty College, but never made it to the individual students. Detectives applied for several search warrants for bank records and learned that Amanda Capps (41 years old from Rushville) had allegedly cashed and deposited several checks into her personal banking account. It was determined that Amanda had allegedly stolen over $70,000 by cashing checks that were made out to the students of PJ’s Beauty College. Amanda was a former employee of PJ’s Beauty College and had access to all of the checks.
Amanda Capps was arrested and charged with Level 5 Felony Theft. Capps was then transported to the Hancock County Jail and a $5,000 bond was listed.
