Members of the Rushville Parks & Recreation Board met recently and were faced with a brief agenda of items requiring their attention.

Parks director Dan Burklow said that applications are still being accepted to staff Waggener Community Pool for the upcoming summer season. He quickly added that he is also accepting applications for summer help for the parks department. He informed board members he hopes to have a list of hires completed by the March meeting for board approval.

In an unrelated matter, it was announced that Vogel’s Florist & Greenhouse personnel will once again tend and plant flowers in the downtown flower pots. It is hope the planters will be completed prior to Memorial Weekend in May.

The line-up for the 2020 Summer Riverside Park Amphitheater Concert series will be announced shortly after 6 p.m., Feb. 20. Bands scheduled for the upcoming summer will be made public in the Council Chambers at the City Center.

In a final matter, The Valentines Gala, will be held at the Elks’ Lodge Saturday with doors opening at 5 p.m. A live auction will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. and the Greg Bacon Jazz Band will provide entertainment from 6 to 10 p.m.

According to Burklow, RCHS Key Club members are assisting with the event. Auction items are currently online on auctioneer Rusty Harmeyer’s Auction webpage and will be listed until noon the day of the event.
