The Rushville Police Department is investigating a shooting spree that took place early Thursday morning and left nine area businesses and four vehicles damaged.

According to Rushville Police Chief Tony Fudge, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday the RPD received a call of windows being shot out at the local Kroger store on South Main Street.

When officers arrived on the scene it was determined that the windows had been shot with what appeared to be a BB gun.

A witness at the Kroger store stated that a dark colored, older model, four-door vehicle came onto the parking lot. At that time witnesses heard a popping noise coming from the vehicle followed by the sound of something hitting the glass of one of the store windows.

Fudge said the vehicle then fled the scene headed south on Main Street at a high rate of speed.

Officers arrived quickly and searched the area south of Rushville but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

Calls to surrounding agencies in regards to the incident revealed information of prior incidents of a similar nature in and around Greensburg of late.

Officers Todd Click and Brandon Reynolds checked other businesses in the area for damage and located eight other businesses and four vehicles that had been damaged; their windows had all been shot with what appears to be a BB gun.

This investigation is ongoing at this time and the RPD is asking for the public’s help.

“If anyone has information in regards to this please call the Rushville Police Department at (765) 932-3907,” Fudge urged. “Even though this appears to be a BB gun it is still a very dangerous weapon in the hands of someone who intends to do harm.”
