Rushville Police Department Chief Craig Tucker joined the Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to discuss “The Great E-Racer.” The Rushville Police Department and the Optimists will be joining forces for the youth of Rush County – pooling resources to present a new fundraiser. Tucker has been working with Rushville Optimist Vice President Marrisa Taylor and club member Christina Lacy to plan the fundraiser, currently scheduled for June 6, 2020.

“The Great E-Racer” will be a bicycle relay race, with all proceeds raised being used to purchase school supplies for the 2020-2021 school year. The committee is looking for 15 teams of five riders each to race. There will be four races: adult, high school, middle school, and elementary school.

The committee is currently looking for support from the community. They are asking for sponsorships, starting at $100. Sponsors will be honored with their name on the event T-shirt. They are also looking for volunteers for the day of the event. Volunteers will get a T-shirt.

If you would like more information on sponsoring, volunteering, or participating as a team, please contact Marrisa Taylor at 765-571-2430, Darilyn Bedel at 260-4175729, or Christina Lacy at 317-698-5408.
