The 21st annual Jason D. Kuhn Memorial Golf Scramble will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at Antler Pointe Golf Course.
Kuhn passed away in February of 1999 after battling Hodgkin’s disease for two years. He was a Manilla native and graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School.
Three of Kuhn’s college friends (Adam Decker, Marc Steczyk and Andy Wilson) decided to start the golf scramble to raise money in Kuhn’s honor, briefly after his passing.
“At the time of Jason’s passing we just wanted to do something. Jason was always the light in the room, always such a positive person and full of energy,” Wilson said. “His unique sense of humor made him a friend to everyone and it was so shocking to see him go through that at the time as he was so young.”
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. Sign up forms are available at the RCS Central Office and Rushville Republican office.
All proceeds will benefit Rush County Schools through the Legacy Fund.
The event costs $240 per team of four ($60 per person). A meal (included in team fee) will be provided after the scramble.
Return sign up forms along with full payment of $240 or a minimum of $100 to hold your spot.
Checks should be made payable to the Jason Kuhn Memorial Golf Scramble, C/O Rush County Schools Legacy Fund. Checks should be mailed to 330 W. 8th St. Rushville, IN 46173.
Opportunities to become Hole and Gift Sponsors are available. Hole and Gift Sponsors must fill out a separate form, which is also available in the RCS Central Office and Rushville Republican office.
Hole Sponsorship costs $175.
Hole Sponsors will have their name or name of their business posted next to one of 18 tee boxes or greens on the course. Names will also be placed on back of event T-shirts and in a program commemorating the event.
Gift Sponsors can give monetary donations or other items. Gift Sponsors have a chance to receive an array of door prizes.
Gift items which can’t be mailed will be picked up for convenience. To do so, contact RCS Director of Finance Bryce Welsh at 765-932-4186 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Event organizers expect more than 20 teams to participate. The winning team will receive the “School Trophy”, which is provided by The Sampler.
The event has raised more than $100,000 in Kuhn’s memory since its formation.
In the past, the golf scramble has raised funds for the Sheehan Cancer Care Center at Rush Memorial Hospital, the American Cancer Society and Franklin College. Starting in 2014, funds from the scramble have gone to support Rush County Schools through the Legacy Fund.
