For the past three years, the First Baptist Church of Rushville has participated in a national campaign to relieve hunger called The Souper of Caring.
This is a nation-wide effort to draw attention away from the personal consumption of too much food that is associated with “The Super Bowl” and draw attention to the plight of those in Rushville who have too little food.
Cans of soup are used to decorate the sanctuary to remind those attending of the soup drive.
For the third year in a row, the church collected more than 1,500 cans of soup, which will be donated to the local food pantry. Although it was hard to keep an accurate count, the church’s final can count was the same number as the year Indiana became a state 1,816.
The church would like to thank all who participated.
