The State of Indiana vs. Garry Evans trail began last week following multiple days of jury selection in Rush County Circuit Court with Johnson County Judge Jeffrey Eggers presiding.
Prosecutors called the state’s first witness Friday and that individual was still giving testimony Monday.
A 12-person jury and two alternates will hear all of the testimony from both prosecution and defense teams before they decide the fate of the Rushville pastor.
Evans is on trial facing allegations of inappropriate sexual misconduct with minors. The lengthy investigation that led to the charges being filed was undertaken in 2017 with multiple victims coming forward.
Although innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, Evans was initially charged in the fall of 2017 with child molestation, child solicitation and sexual battery involving five alleged victims.
A short time later, in November of that year, additional charges were filed when another victim came forward.
In a nearly empty courtroom, the second full day of the trail got underway Monday.
