Coats for Kids

Arlington Elementary School student Abigale Clift is pictured with Rush County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chris Morgan donating coats to the local “Coats for Kids” effort. The coats will be given freely to those in need from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the F.O.P. Building located at the intersection of Sexton Street and 15th Street.

For a number of weeks, a coat drive has been underway locally to collect and clean new and gently worn “Coats for Kids.”

The local Fraternal Oder of Police Chapter 117 (F.O.P.) has sponsored the event for a number of years. This year, the effort was joined by Rush Memorial Hospital. In recent days, a steady drop in temperatures has made the collection even more relevant as a number of local youth have gone to and from school in near freezing weather.

In recent years, coats have been distributed to Rush County in need youth free of charge. The coats will be given away free of charge to any child beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until noon, Saturday at the local F.O.P. Lodge. The lodge is located at the intersection of 15th Street and Sexton Street, near Waggener Community Pool.

For additional information regarding the event or to schedule a pick up if unable to attend tomorrow’s event, Rush County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chris Morgan can be contacted at (765) 932-2931.
