MoRE for Kids will host its Bowl MoRE for Kids event from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at the Rushville Bowl.
“Our Bowl MoRE for Kids event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. All money raised stays in Rush County,” Lunch Buddy Program Coordinator with MoRE for Kids Denise Small said.
Teams will bowl for one hour during a scheduled time slot (starting at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. or 4 p.m.). When a team signs up, they will be asked to pick their top three bowling times and MoRE for Kids will contact them to confirm a time slot.
Each team member is asked to raise at least $30. MoRE for Kids suggests collecting donations from friends and family.
Each team member takes home a T-shirt and has the opportunity to win a door prize. Additional prizes will be awarded to the top two individual donors and those who raise $60 or more will receive a gift card.
To be eligible for prizes, donations must be turned in by 5 p.m. on March 1 (the day of event).
“There will also be many great raffle baskets to be won and door prizes every hour,” Small said. “This year we are giving incentive prizes for those individuals raising the most money and there are some really cool traveling trophies handed out for special awards. Wouldn’t you love to display one of these trophies for a year?”
The mission of MoRE for Kids is to support and empower Rush County youth through one-to-one mentoring.
“MoRE for Kids is very important to Rush County youth as our goal is to empower our mentees by exposing them to new ideas and experiences they may not otherwise have the opportunity to be involved in,” Small said. “Our programs also encourage activity and interaction with other mentees.”
According to MoRE for Kids, the organization understands kids sometimes need a little more of something to help them be successful in life. They may require a positive adult or role model who cares about them or they need more time outside of the house to be active and learn new things.
The goal of MoRE for Kids is to help fill some of those gaps through matching local children with caring mentors.
