Authors, politicians, athletes, entertainers and scientists have converged on Rushville - in the form of autographs - to raise money for the RCHS library.
The RCHS Library will hold a silent auction on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 7 to 8 p.m.
“It’ll also be a grand opening for the new layout/design for the library space,” Librarian Nicki Kirchoff said. “We are in year one of a three-year transition of moving the library into a learning commons.”
At the auction, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on several items including signed books, signed photos and more. There will be more than 60 signed library card catalogs cards, books and photos available for bidding. Signatures include such people as Jodi Picoult, Colin Powell, Tony Dungy, Joan Baez, Steve Wozniak and many more.
The auction is open to the public.
“It’s open to the entire community,” Kirchoff said. “That evening is also going to be RCHS’s way of showing how we are updating and changing the role of the school library now that all students have a Chromebook.”
This is the first fundraiser of this kind for the library program.
All money raised from the event will go towards funding for after school programs, book club supplies, food for either and author visits.
