The Richland Farmers & Farmerettes 4-H Club held a meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the New Salem Lions Club. This was the 4-H Club’s annual Family Night. President Cora Owens called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The American Pledge was given by Levi Marlatt, and the 4-H Pledge was given by Kolby Herbert. Cora Owens then gave a prayer, and released members and their families to eat.
Following the meal, a Secretary and Treasurer’s Report was given by Courtney Jackman. She then did roll call with 40 members answered roll by introducing their families. Also present were leaders Alan Amos, Sue Herbert, and Jonathan Holzback, along with numerous guests.
Demonstrations were then given. Samantha Spaeth, Ashleigh Spaeth, and Carlie Kuhn gave a demonstration on Aquaponics. Michael Slaton, Caleb Jessup, Jacob Carrol, and Cameron Jackman then gave a demonstration on How to Make a Tik Tok.
Cora Owens introduced Jonathan Holzback as a new leader of the 4-H Club. The leaders then announced that the Hog Roast was POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Tickets for the event will be honored at the make-up date.
Richland 4-H has always sponsored Bowl MoRE for Kids. Michael Slaton made a motion to continue sponsorship, and it was seconded by Caleb Jessup. The motion passed. The officers (Harrison Wicker, Cora Owens, and Courtney Jackman) presented a bowling pin to Mike Holzback on behalf of the New Salem Lions Club.
Jonathan announced that club t-shirts were on sale. They are $5.00 per person, and can be ordered and paid for up to the April meeting.
Harrison Wicker gave an update on 4-H and Teen Camp. Entry forms were mailed out by the extension office. If cost to attend was an issue, then members needed to see the leaders, or the extension office.
The leaders gave an update on YQCA. The April 2 date has been CANCELED. A letter will come from the extension office with more information.
Jonathan gave information on the Facebook and Instagram Account. To access the Facebook page, type in @richlandfarmersfarmerettes into the search bar. To access the Instagram account, type in @richlandfarmersandfarmerettes into the search box. Many updates will be posted here, including information about the Hog Roast.
The leaders then handed out Completion Pins, Green Record Books, and Project Books.
Sue stated that the next meeting date will be announced at a later date, through the club’s Remind account.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Cora Owens at 8 p.m.
