The Posey Pride 4-H Club met at 4 p.m. Sunday March 1 at the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department. The meeting was called to order by President Joleigh Geise. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Audrey Waits and the 4-H Pledge was led by Jaylen Geise.
Roll call was held and there were 20 members and one leader present for the meeting. Treasurer Gabby Pavey reported that the club has $660.49 in the savings account.
There was no old business to discuss. Vice-President Jeremiah Geise gave a Junior Leaders update and informed the members that flower sales would be starting after Spring Break.
The club was also briefed on an upcoming service event/learning experience. On April 25 at 10 a.m., there will be an Earth Day Tree Planting and Celebration held at the amphitheater in Rushville. This opportunity was presented to the group as a way to volunteer in the community and complete a service project. A motion was made to participate in the Earth Day Tree Planting and Celebration in place of having a club meeting in April and the motion passed unanimously. Therefore, the regular club meeting scheduled for April 5 will be cancelled. If members were signed up to do a demonstration in April, those will be postponed until the May 3 meeting.
Demonstrations were given by the following members: Sam Sterrett (Aerospace Rockets), Jeremiah Geise (Vet Science – Artificial Insemination of Goats), and Tucker Case (Electricity).
For the group activity, club members participated in a competition to build a shelter using Maker’s Space materials provided by the Extension Office. Cookies were provided for refreshment and members were reminded to look for a letter in the mail reminding them of the upcoming service project on April 25.
The meeting was adjourned by President Joleigh Geise.
