DECEMBER

FRIDAY (12/14)

l Rush County Players Christmas production, Miracle on 34th Street. Show dates are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. Mary’s School, 226 E. 5th St. Rushville. Tickets are currently available through the cast or the Board of Directors. You may call Rush County Players at 765-938-1711 to reserve yours today!

l Watch the RCHS boy’s basketball game tonight live at the school’s television and radio website: www.rush919.com. The game will also air live on 91.9 FM.

l Anytime Fitness in Rushville continues to extend their offer for anyone participating in the FIT Walkabouts (even for the first time) to visit on Fridays at 4 p.m. You may walk on the treadmill or try other equipment. Anyone who is not a member of Anytime Fitness will be asked to sign the guest register, but there is no other obligation. This offer includes Dec. 28 and Jan. 4.

SATURDAY (12/15)

l The Boys & Girls Clob of Rush County will be closed for the day for the annual Christmas parties. The boys’ party starts and 9 a.m. and should be over by 11:30 a.m. The girls’ party starts at noon and should be over by 2 p.m. Both parties are for youth ages 5 through 19 and kids do not need to be members to attend. l Come join us for Christmas dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Fellowship Hall at Wesley United Methodist Church, corner of 8th and North Ft. Wayne Road in Rushville. This is a free dinner. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come join us to give thanks for all our blessings. Donation of a canned food would be appreciated for the food pantry.

MONDAY (12/17)

l Special Christmas F.I.T. Walkabout by touring St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Main Street Christian Church. Start at 5:30 p.m. at the Education Building of St. Paul’s UMC, 426 N. Morgan Street, Rushville. Tour both the Education Building and the main Worship Building, including the option of multiple flights of stairs. Then walk to Main Street Christian Church to tour that beautiful facility before returning to your parked cars. Both churches will be decorated for the season and should provide an enjoyable fitness opportunity. This walkabout is sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. TUESDAY (12/18)

l Rush County Heritage is having their 27th annual Christmas Party at Big Flatrock Christian Church, located at 4782 W 650 S, beginning at 6 p.m. Pitch-in with meal, rolls, table service furnished. Entertainment and brief meeting to follow. Dress casual. Everyone invited.

l Main Street Christian Church Manna Mission Meal, 615 N. Main St., offers a free hot meal and fellowship with our friends in need from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. December’s dinner has been changed from the last Tuesday of the month. Carry-out available. Contact the church at 932-2997 for more information.

WEDNESDAY (12/19)

l F.I.T. Walkabouts will return to another indoor location. Meet at Memorial Gymnasium at 11:20 a.m. to walk during the students’ lunchtime. F.I.T. Walkabouts are sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. For more information, call 932-5974.

l RMH Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the third floor conference room of the local hospital. Open to the public.

l Boys & Girls Club of Rush County closes at 6 p.m. and will be closed through Dec. 26.The club will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 27, 28, 31 and Jan. 2-5. The early and late bird programs will be available on open days during Christmas vacation. Information: 932-2765.

SATURDAY (1/12)

l Annual Community Tenderloin Supper to support the RCHS Band programs, 4:30 to 7 p.m., RCHS cafeteria. $6 in advance from any band student or $7 at the door. We will be serving tenderloin, hot

dogs, scalloped potatoes, green beans, slaw, apple sauce, desserts and drinks. Everyone is invited to attend and help support the RCHS bands before the boy’s basketball game that evening.

TUESDAY (1/15)

l Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. in the RCHS cafeteria. A representative from the Financial Aid Office at Franklin College will be here to discuss the process of filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  In addition, other financial aid information will be available to parents concerning applying for scholarships and grants.



MISCELLANEOUS

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

l Diabetes education classes are held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at Rush Memorial Hospital Skills Lab, second floor. Cost, $10 per class with a $25 refund if all three classes are attended. Info: 765-932-7416 or dena.bills@rushmemorial.com

l Partners for a Healthy Rush County meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Boys & Girls Club. Open to all interested businesses, organizations or individuals in Rush County.

l A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone welcomed.

l A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics.
