l Old Fashion Tent Revival “On Fire for God,” Oct. 5-7, 2012, Manilla Fire Department Grounds, Friday Night Teen Services featuring Pastor Brandon Harrison at 7 p.m.; Saturday Afternoon Fried Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans, coleslaw, desserts and drinks 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., free will offering; Saturday Night Revival Services featuring Brother Ed Crawford at 7 p.m.; Sunday Morning Church Services with Brother Ed Crawford at 10 a.m. Information: Lisa Ward 765-561-4069

SATURDAY (10/6)

l Sons of the American Second Annual Golf Outing to support Rush County youth, 11 a.m., Horse Shoe Bend Golf Course. $200 per team. Prizes awarded for 1st., 2nd. and 3rd. place. 4 person ABCD scramble. Mulligans/Skirts, longest drive/putt. Information, Rick Howard at 765-561-7304. Entry forms can be picked up at the American Legion.

l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $9 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public.

l Rushville Elks #1307 will host a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament beginning at 1 p.m. Cost is $20. Open to the public. Register by calling 938-1307 or at the door at the time of the event. Proceeds will support veterans and Clothe a Child programs.

l Dated change for October meeting. Rush County Genealogical Society will meet at 11 a.m., Oct. 6 at the Rushville Elks #1307, 223 E 3rd Street, Rushville. Election of officers is coming up soon; if you would like to help, please let a member of the Nominating Committee know of your interest. They are Linda Mahan, Susan Huston and Carol Jones. SUNDAY (10/7)

l The Gathering is inviting the community to come to their family fun evening from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at Memorial Park for pumpkin painting, games and free food for the family. The evening will include great games and free hotdogs, chips and a drink. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this event.

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch. The Elks is trying something new! Every Sunday’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., buffet style all you can eat with bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, shredded has browns, pancakes (with fruit available) and even a manned omelet station! Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

MONDAY (10/8)

l All Rush County vocalists: The Rush County Chorale practices at 7 p.m. in the RCHS choir room. All current members, past members and new vocalists are invited to attend. The Chorale will present the winter program on Dec. 1 and 2 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Practices will continue at 7 p.m. on Mondays.

l The Rushville Music Study Club will meet at 7 p.m. at St Paul’s Methodist Church. Please note this is a new location from last year. All members and associate members are encouraged to attend. Mrs. Marilyn Dunn is the chairman of the program with Mrs. Pat Bird as hostess.

THURSDAY (10/11)

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public. Downtown History Walk. Meet at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of First Presbyterian Church, 226 N. Morgan Street.

FRIDAY (10/12)

l Don’t miss the fun, food and family time at the Milroy School Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12. Activities include a hog roast, the County Store, children’s games, a raffle and a silent and live Auction. Tickets for the meal are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets are available at the door Oct. 12. This annual Fall Festival is Milroy’s only fundraiser so come out and support Milroy Elementary School, The new Milroy School is located at 300 N. Walnut, Milroy.

l Big Flatrock Christian Church would like to invite everyone to their annual Homecoming Celebration/Knowles Shaw Day at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14. Special guest bringing the message will be Mike Whitacre. Special music will be by Eddie Thompson. Church memorabilia will also be on display. There will be a pitch in dinner at noon. Please bring a well filled basket and share our special day with us. l There will be a family friendly country dance at the Manilla Lions Club on St. Rd. 44. Line dances, couples dances, and lessons from 8 to 11 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, 12 and under free. Information can be found on the Raleigh Country Line Dance facebook page.

l Third Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Zumba-Thon, 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 20, 306 N. Main St., Rushville. Zumba-Thon includes 25 plus vendors, food and fun.
