NOVEMBER

FRIDAY (11/2)

l Golden Lion Members, corporate sponsors and parents of players will have first choice on reserved seats for boys and girls basketball games. They should bring their tickets to the Memorial Gym Athletic Office on Friday, Nov. 2. All-Sport ticket holders may begin selecting their seats on Monday, Nov. 5. General admission tickets will be $5. Middle school and high school students will not need assigned seats. Tickets prices are as follows: Golden Lion Ticket $60, Adult All-Sport $50 and Student All-Sport $40.

SATURDAY (11/3)

l HSUR Shrine Club of Rush County all-you-can-eat breakfast, 6 to 10:30 a.m. in the RCHS cafeteria. Full menu includes beverages. Tickets available from local Shriners or at the door.

l 6th annual St. Mary School 5K Run/Walk, 8:30 a.m., Benjamin Rush Middle School, 1601 N. Sexton St., Rushville. Late registration 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. $15 adults, $10 under 18. Children’s races for sixth grade and under will be held at BRMS track. Awards and prizes. Donations accepted for St. Mary Food Pantry. Info: 765-932-3639.

l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $9 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public.

l Rush County Youth Rally at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 426 N. Morgan St., Rushville. Rally is for high school youth. Bring a canned food donation. Supper provided.

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue.

l Big Flatrock Christian (4782 W 650 S) Church Gospel Sing at 7 p.m. featuring the Outreach Praise Band and the Waldron Methodist Praise Band. Info: Larry Adkins at 765-932-5229.

l Benefit hog roast and dance for the Billy “Tater” Thompson family, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Rushville Elks banquet room. $5 for dinner. DJ Kevin Green 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Silent auction. Open bar.

l Manilla Lions Club Pancake, Sausage, Biscuit & Gravy Breakfast, 6:30 to 11 a.m., at their community building located on State Road 44 on the west side of Manilla. Adults $5; children 12 and under $3.

l Milroy United Methodist Church Aannual Turkey Super from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the Milroy United Methodist Church. Menu is turkey, dressing, noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, salad and homemade dessert. Adults $8, children 4 to 12 are $4. Carry out available in the basement.

SUNDAY (11/4)

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

MONDAY (11/5)

l Learn how to spend less on food by attending a free public presentation. Purdue Extension Educator Gracie Marlatt presents “Frugal Living: Making the Most of Your Food Dollar” at noon in the Courthouse Assembly Room and at 7 p.m. at the Rush County Fair Office. l F.I.T. Walkabouts are adjusting to the changing weather. Meet at the Rush County Courthouse at 7 a.m. for an early morning walk. Don’t forget to reset your clocks. This walkabout is sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. Information: 932-5974.

l Phoenix Lodge #62 F&AM will host a all you can eat breakfast from 6:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The $5 breakfast will be held in conjunction with a blood drive at the local masons lodge. Walk-ups are welcome and carry out is available.

WEDNESDAY (11/7)

l RCHS Fall Sports Awards Night will be at 7 p.m. in the RCHS Cafeteria.

l Explore the walking trail north of Conrad Harcourt Way with “Hoofin’ It on Harcourt.”  Meet at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot east of the Comfort Inn. This F.I.T. Walkabout is sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. Information: 932-5974.

THURSDAY (11/8)

l Join Rushville Elks 1307 for their Oyster Extravaganza to benefit Indiana Veterans Services. The Oyster Extravaganza begins serving at 6:30 p.m. and includes: Oyster stew, ham & beans, fried oysters, turkey fries, livers & gizzards, and all the trimmings. The evening includes fun and games. Cost is $18 in advance or $20 at the door.

l Local 118 UAW Roots Blower retirees are welcome to a pitch in dinner at 11:30 a.m. at Eastside Methodist Church in Connersville. Bring filled covered dish. Drinks, plates, etc., provided. Bring spouse or friend. Widows welcome.

l The Rush Co. Board of Commissioners and ADA Consultants of Indiana invite you to attend a public hearing at 7 p.m. in the Courthouse Assembly Room. The Board is seeking public input regarding the current accessibility in and around the county. The ADA will also answer any questions regarding ADA compliance in the city.

FRIDAY (11/9)

l Dance for elementary school age children, 6 to 8 p.m., Boys & Girls Club of Rush County. $3 per person. DJ. Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

SATURDAY (11/10)

l Rush County Genealogical Society will meet at 11 a.m. at the Rushville Elks #1307, 223 E 3rd Street, Rushville. This is the Election of Officers meeting. Please plan to be there]. l Pancake Breakfast, 6:30 to 10 a.m., Masonic Lodge. Every other month the Masonic Lodge hosts an all you can eat pancake breakfast. The cost is $5. Sausage, eggs and pancakes will be served. This event is sponsored by Phoenix Lodge # 62 F&AM and Martha Poe OES.

l The Hoosier Gym in Knightstown Dinner and a Movie at 6 p.m. “Raise the Roof” benefit will kick off the Hoosier Gym Community Center’s efforts to raise funds for a new roof over the lobby of the 90-year-old facility. A pork dinner and the movie “Hoosiers” will be show in Blu-ray format. Tickets $10 adults, $5 children 12 and younger. Tickets are on sale at the Hoosier Gym, Knightstown Chamber of Commerce, MidCountry Media, Americana Bank (Knightstown), Citizens State Bank (Knightstown), Main Source Bank (Knightstown) and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in News Castle. l Holiday Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rushville Elementary School East and West gyms. Many vendors including craft vendors, various home consultants and businesses. Bake sale, lunch and door prizes. Admission $1. This event is a fundraiser for Rushville Victim’s Assistance, Inc., St. Mary’s PTA, and the Rushville Republican EIN.  This is a great time to start your Christmas shopping.

l Arc’s annual Wheelchair Bowling Event. Times of 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. are available. Call Jan Hornaday at 561-3108 or Cindy Sickbert at 932-4563 to register your team of four or five bowlers. Team fees are a minimum of $125. All proceeds help those with physical or mental challenges.
