MARCH

FRIDAY (3/15)

l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

SATURDAY (3/16)

l Anderson Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. pancake and sausage breakfast, 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Milroy firehouse. Cost is free-will donation. Proceeds for purchase of new fire hoses.

l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $10 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public. Information: 932-2277.

l Big Flatrock Christian Church annual chili supper from 4-7 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted. Carry outs available. A bake sale and a silent auction will be held by the Dorcas Circle II during the meal. The church is located at 4782 W 650 S, Rushville, (one mile east of Gowdy.) MONDAY (3/18)

l Spring Garden Meeting at 7 p.m. The Master Gardener & Friends and the Extension Office are co-sponsoring a spring garden meeting open to the world. This program will be conducted at the Rush Shelby Building at the Rush County Fairgrounds. Information: 932-5974.

l The Board of Trustees of the Rushville Public Library has postponed their regular meeting date of March 18,, and has moved the meeting date to 6 p.m. March 25, in the library meeting room. In addition, the Board of Trustees will hold an executive meeting to discuss personnel at 5:45 p.m. March 25, in the meeting room.

l The Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County announces Spring Training, a six-week training program to prepare for a season of walking & running and a lifetime of increased activity. Spring Training is a schedule that starts with a light walk on March 18 and concludes by participating in the Mayor’s Run/Walk on Saturday, April 27. Meet at 6 p.m. at the RCS Track. l NARFE will meet at 10 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg with optional lunch following the meeting. If you are a retired federal employee or currently an active employee and have an interest in attending chapter meetings, join us at our meeting.

WEDNESDAY (3/20)

l Spring begins.

l Practical nurses and student LPNs are invited to an Indiana Practical Nurses Association Open House and Discussion from 5-7 p.m. in Johnson Hall at Ivy Tech-Richmond.

The discussion, “Challenges of Practical Nursing “Practical, Professional and Proud,” will be in Stidham Auditorium. Members and potential members are encouraged to attend, join the discussion and assist with planning the August convention. MONDAY (3/25)

l Rush County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner at the 201 Building in downtown Rushville. Keynote speaker is US Attorney and Rushville native Joe Hogsett. Reception 5:30 to 6 p.m., dinner 6-7 p.m. and the annual meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person for Chamber Partners and $30 for non-partners. l Rush County Schools Spring Break, March 25-29.

l Auditions for Shelby County Players’ next production, Plaza Suite by Neil Simon, will be at 6:30 p.m. March 25 and 26 at The Strand Theatre, 215 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville. Those who audition will read from the script. A perusal script is available at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Public Library, 57 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville. l Want to start your own business? Need a little help with the one you have? That assistance is coming to Rushville. Scott Underwood, business consultant from the East Central Small Business Development Center, will be presenting information on the array of business services available at no charge. The SBDC connects “entrepreneur hopefuls” with the educational, financial and mentoring resources they will need as they move forward with starting or expanding their own business. This information session will be held at the Rush County Chamber of Commerce office, 315 Main Street, from 2 to 4 p.m. No registration required. Information: ECDC office at 938-3232.

l Parents and family are invited to join in the Band Boosters which meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the RCHS Band room. Families with middle school and high school band students are encouraged to come to meetings and be a part of the Band Booster program. Information: 765-561-3000.

l St. Mary Catholic School annual Green and White Gala.  The Gala is an opportunity to celebrate St. Mary School. Guest speaker will be John Green (SMS 1990 graduate), the son of Daniel and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Green. All are welcome to attend. l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.
