TUESDAY (7/2)

• The first Tuesday of every month a free health check is available at Miller’s Merry Manor, 2 to 3 p.m. Blood Pressure, blood sugar and weight checks. Refreshments will be available.

• Connersville celebrates its 200th birthday June 28 - July 7 with historical performances, demonstrations, a parade and 10 days of family-friendly events. From John Conner’s first trading post to the “Little Detroit” automotive history to the manufacturing and technology of today, Connersville’s Bicentennial is “To honor the past, celebrate the present and welcome the future.” Find out more at www.connersville200years.com.

THURSDAY (7/4)

• Rushville July 4 parade on Main Street, fireworks and 27th Annual 4th of July Optimist car show. Car show registration opens at 8 a.m. in North Memorial Park.

• The Rush County Fourth of July fireworks celebration will be presented at 10 p.m. in the field north of Rushville Elementary Schools on North Sexton Street. There will be a DJ Dance from 8 to 10 p.m. with DJ Tyler Coons in the north parking lot of the Rushville Elementary schools. Everyone is invited to come early and enjoy good music prior to the show. Fireworks will be choreographed to all patriotic music aired on WKPW (90.7 FM) and WIFE (94.3 FM). For more information about making donations, call 932-4989.

• Clearview Family Christmas Tree farm Christmas in July family fun, 8451 W 100 S, Arlington, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wagon rides, family fun, picnics, apple pie and ice cream as well as local artisans demonstrating and displaying their wares. Pioneer encampments throughout the day , food vendors and ongoing entertainment. No admission. Bring a well-filled picnic basket and enjoy corn hole, sack races, seed spitting contests and more. SUNDAY (7/7)

• Ashley Spurlin Day at Stagg’s Restaurant and Dairy Treats will be July 7. A portion of the sale from that day will go to the Ashley Spurlin Memorial Scholarship at the Rush County Community Foundation. Donations will also be accept. This fund provides scholarships to RCHS students attending Indiana State University. Please come and join Ashley’s family and friends and enjoy a great meal and wonderful ice cream treats.

MONDAY (7/8)

• Parents and family are invited to join in the Band Boosters which meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the RCHS Band room. Families with middle school and high school band students are encouraged to come to meetings and be a part of the Band Booster program.

• Carthage Literary Club meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Carthage Community Center and everyone is welcome to attend.

TUESDAY (7/9)

• Milroy Psi Ote Summer Reading Program each Tuesday and Thursday 10:30 a.m. to noon, June 9-25, Milroy Elementary School Library.

THURSDAY (7/11)

• The public is invited to the Mel Barton Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Emerson Climate Technologies, Emerson East in Rushville. Every donor will receive a gift. Special guest is Phil the Blood Drop. Raise a sleeve in honor of a friend.

• Roots Blower Retirees pitch-in dinner with Local 1118 UAW, 11:30 a.m., Eastside Methodist Church, Connersville. Please bring a filled covered dish. Drinks, plates, etc., provided. Bring a friend. Widows welcome.

FRIDAY (7/12)

• Comedians Scott Gregory and Gregory Tornquist perform in a Family Comedy show to help RMH Pediatrics. Show is at the RushShelby Energy Building located at the Rush County Fairgrounds. Tickets $25 adults, $10 kids age 17 and under, and $60 for a family package (includes 2 adults and 2 children). Tickets can be purchased at the RMH Foundation Office (located on the first floor of the hospital) or at MainSource, Wells Fargo, and Citizens State banks in Rushville. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation of the first annual Rush County Youth Volunteer of the Year Award presented by RMH Foundation. The two comedians will follow.

• Big Flatrock Christian Church invites everyone to their annual Pork Chop Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Manilla Fire Department, S.R. 44, Manilla. Tickets $8. The Dorcas Circle II will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a garden basket filled with neat garden items.

• Waggener Community Pool in Rushville will be offering swim lessons July 15 to 18 with July 19 as the make-up day and again July 22 to 25 with July 26 as the make-up day. The last day to sign up for lessons is July 12. Call 932-7100. Lessons are $30 per week per child.

SATURDAY (7/27)

• The RCHS Class of 2003 will be having its 10 year class reunion on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Rushville Elks Lodge. The reunion will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 prior to the reunion and $20 at the door. Contact Phillip Morgan at rushvilleclassof2003@gmail.com.

• The Manna Mission will be holding their free monthly meal from 5 to 7 p.m. in the dining area of Main Street Christian Church, 615 Main Street, Rushville. Eat-in and carry-out meals available. If you know of someone that needs a hot and healthy meal, please send them our way.

• In cooperation with the Rush County Food Pantry (RCCA), the Gleaners Mobile Food Bank will be bringing a truck load of food to the Main Street Christian Church parking lot, 615 N. Main St., Rushville, on the first Monday of each month for distribution to local residents. The distribution will be made between 4 and 6 p.m. Residents will need to bring their own containers (sacks or boxes) to put their food into.
