APRIL

TUESDAY (4/30)

l RCHS Band Department presents their Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts.

l The April Manna Mission meal, sponsored by Main Street Christian Church, will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 30. The menu is ham and beans, cornbread, potatoes, slaw and desserts. Eat-in or carry-out orders are available. The meal is served on the last Tuesday of the month in the downstairs dining room of the church to anyone who desires a hot meal.

l Do you know just a little about Microsoft Excel©, but wish you knew more? Find out how to take your knowledge of this versatile program up several notches with Rush County Lifelong Learning’s “Excel Excellence” class. This class will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. through May 7, at 126 S. Main St., Rushville. The cost for the 5-week class is just $35 or you may pay per class attended. It is taught by Ron Shields. Call 765-932-7191 for more information on topics offered each week.

l Tri Kappa Bingo. Play to win a variety of Vera Bradley or Longaberger items. Bingo fun for all. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Event begin at 7 p.m., RCHS Cafeteria. $12 per ticket. Please bring a non-perishable food item of your choice to be entered into the raffle. Must be 18 to attend.

FRIDAY (5/3)

l Rush County Player’s rendition of “Inherit the Wind,” show dates are May 3, 4 & 5 at RCP’s new location, 306 N. Main St., Rushville. l St. Paul’s Education Committee will host a Family Movie Night from 6 to 9 p.m. in the church basement. Pizza, drinks, dessert and popcorn provided. l Rummage Sale to benefit Little Flatrock Christian Church Mission Trip, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4 at the

SATURDAY (5/4)

l The community is invited to a Hog Roast Benefit for the family of Dennis “Duck” Brown from 4 to 9 p.m., at Rushville Elks. $8 per person. Carry out available. Drawing and Door prizes. Amish Open Mic Band and Joe Rigney will be performing during the benefit.

l Manilla School Runion for former students, teachers and staff at the Manilla Lions Club. Registration at noon with the meal at 1 p.m. Cost is $14 to Manilla Alumni Association and mailed to Teola Carmony, 2007 Augusta Court, Shelbyville, IN 46176 by April 24. MONDAY (5/6)

l In cooperation with the Rush County Food Pantry (RCCA), the Gleaners Mobile Food Bank will be bringing a truck load of food to the Main Street Christian Church parking lot, 615 N. Main St., Rushville, on the first Monday of each month for distribution to local residents. The distribution will be made between 4 and 6 p.m. beginning May 6. Residents will need to bring their own containers (sacks or boxes) to put their food into.

l Learn about the process of liquidating personal property by attending a Special Interest presentation by Nancy Smith of Vintage Rose Auctions & Appraisal Service of Knightstown at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Rush County Courthouse. l The Heart of Rushville will host a vendor meeting for its Farmers and Artisans Market at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Rush County Courthouse.  Anyone interested in being a vendor at this summer’s market should attend. SATURDAY (5/11)

l RCHS Annual POPS Concert, 7:30 p.m., all choirs, Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets through RCHS.

l Rush Co. United Santa Helpers (formerly Toys for Tots) will begin their first benefit ride at the Rushville Legion with sign ups from 11 a.m. to noon. The donation is $10 per bike and $5 per rider. The ride schedule will be available the day of the ride which begins at Rushville Eagles. The meal starts at 4 p.m. and will be $5 for non-riders. The evening includes an auction and music. Help Rushville Legion Riders and Rushville Eagle Riders raise the funds for the program. l Heart of Rushville presents the Rushville Celebrity Roast with Coach Cinda Brown, 7 p.m., Elks. Business attire. Tickets prices $25 individuals, $40 couples, $150 table for eight. For ticket information please contact the Rushville Chamber of Commerce or Rushville City Hall.

l The Heart of Rushville sponsoring Rush County’s “Biggest Yard Sale” from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riverside Park Amphitheater. Sellers can set up as early as 6:30 a.m. and must rent at least one table for $5 but will keep all sales proceeds. Sellers cannot bring their own tables, they may bring one wardrobe rack for each table rented. Tables available on first come first served basis. Chairperson Kim Rathz is looking for vendors who will sell donuts/rolls and coffee in the morning and snacks and soft drinks/water from late morning to close. Contact her at (317) 519-5571 if interested in being a vendor or to reserve tables. All tables must be reserved and paid for in advance of the sale. You can also reserve and pay for tables with Carla Sharpe at City Hall (765-932-3735).

l The Kelly Miller Circus is coming to town with performances at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., May 15, at the Rush County Conservation Club grounds. Purchase your tickets now from the Chamber of Commerce, Public Paint and Wallpaper, Mainsource Bank, Citizens State Bank or Rushville Pharmacy today! l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

SATURDAY (5/18)

l Fair Queen contestants hold their Queen Car Wash from 9 a.m. to noon at Hubler Auto Center, Rushville.

l Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

SATURDAY (5/25)

l Rush County Farmers Market begins May 25 and continues each Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Third and Main Streets, Rushville.

l Relay for Life Event Full Service Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Admiral Service Station, South Main St., Rushville. We will pump gas, wash windshields and serve food for donations to Rush County Relay for Life. Music, food and games for kids. Discount gas price.

l Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

l Physicals for the RCHS 2013-2014 school year will take place from 5-7 p.m. at Rush Memorial Hospital. Physical are good for one year from the date you received it and must be on file for participation in school sports.

l Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

l A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics.
