FRIDAY (1/25)

l Dance for BRMS students, 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 25 at Rushville K of C. $5 admission. Music by DJ Kevin Green.

l Every Friday from Jan. 4-25, participants of F.I.T. Walkabouts are invited to Anytime Fitness at 4 p.m. Non-members will be asked to sign the guest register.


l Relay for Life Chili Supper, 4-8 p.m., Rushville Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Free will offering. Chili, hot dogs, chips, and desserts. All money going to Relay for Life. Carry

l Rush County 4-H beef and dairy beef weigh-in will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Jan. 26 in the Livestock Pavilion on the Rush County Fairgrounds. Information and enrollment forms are available to pick up in the Rush County Extension office and will be available on Jan. 26, but will not be mailed to members. ALL animals that exhibit at the Rush County Fair will need to have an RFID tag, which will also be given on the day of the weigh-in.    Information: 932-5974. Snow date is Feb. 2.

L Come on out to visit our Farmers’ and Artisans’ Winter Market located in downtown Rushville at Second Hand Sue’s and Huckleberry Hutch. You will find farm fresh eggs, local honey, homemade jams and jellies, fresh baked bread, and jewelry, handbags and other fine handcrafted items by local crafters. Buy local and support our local economy. Market open 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

l The 2nd session of the Rush County Small Steps to Health and Wealth™ Challenge will be at 10:15 a.m. at Zumba by Carrie, 306 N. Main St. (use the rear entrance). Rush Memorial Hospital will provide basic health assessments, Purdue Extension educator Gracie Marlatt will share a SSHW program and Carrie Simmermon will lead a demonstration Zumba class. Enrollment in the local version of this program is still possible by calling the Rush County Cooperative Extension Service at 932-5974.

SUNDAY (1/27)

l The movie UP will be showing at 3 p.m. at The Gathering, 245 N. Main St., Rushville. Popcorn and soda provided. Please bring a canned good for the Rush County Food Pantry. You’re welcome to bring your favorite pillow or camp chair! Everyone welcome.

l Soap Making Class, 2-3 p.m., Manilla Lions Club. Want to learn how to make soap? Cost is $27.50 per person. We’ll actually make a batch of soap that day so you can see how it’s done.....and you get to take a bar of soap home with you.....and I’ll feed you well! TUESDAY (1/29)

l The Manna Mission Meal will be served 5 until 7 p.m. at Main Street Christian Church. The menu is chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese, rolls and dessert. All who are in need of a hot meal are welcome to partake. We serve eat-in and carry-out meals.  We also have some winter clothing (mostly adult) available for those in need.

l Open House at St. Mary’s School for any prospective families, newly registered families, and early education grades (preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.) Open house from 4:30-6 p.m. A light dinner will be served. Please RSVP by Monday morning, Jan. 28 at the school office, 932-3639. Mass featuring SMS Students will follow the Open House at 6:30 p.m.  During the Open House, Kent Martin from School Choice Indiana will be offering an informational PowerPoint presentation on Indiana’s Voucher Program, SGO (Scholarships), and the new Tax Credit for present private school students in our school computer lab. The first 50 people in attendance will receive a free bright yellow National School Choice scarf to take home!


l The Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater Committee will announce the 2013 Season at 7 p.m. at the 201 Building, 201 N. Main St., Rushville. The public is invited.


FRIDAY (2/1)

l CD Single release party for the song, “What He Made of Me”, written and performed by Craig Moore, will be from 4-9 p.m. at The Park Restaurant in Mays. This is a change in location. The special at the restaurant will be Pan Fried Chicken. Feel free to dine in or carry out while purchasing your CD. Moore will be performing live throughout the evening. There will be volunteer waitresses for the evening. The CD Single with the song “What He Made of Me” will be for sale for $5. All proceeds from the sale of the CD along with the tips earned will be given to Melinda Dora and her family to help cover medical costs etc. The CD will also be available at the Park Restaurant in Rushville with Moore performing at the Mays location.

l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.


l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $10 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public. Information: 932-2277.

l Individuals in search of obtaining a Ham Operators license can contact Mike Elder to schedule an appointment for the Feb. 2 testing. Testing for each of the three levels: technician, general and extra are $15. The testing will be held in the lower level of the Rushville Public Library between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. l RCP Fundraiser Dance, “A Love Story,” 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Rushville Elks. Dinner to start at 7:00pm and Dancing the night away with one of Rush Co. Finest Dj. There will be a Cash bar available. l Parents and family are invited to join in the Band Boosters which meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the RCHS Band room. Families with middle school and high school band students are encouraged to come to meetings and be a part of the Band Booster program. Information: 765-561-3000.

l RCHS hosts FAFSA Night for assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, 3:30-7 p.m.


l “Know the 10 Signs,” a free workshop on detecting the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Area 9 Agency on Aging, 520 S. 9th St., Richmond. The free session requires registration by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.
