FEBRUARY

TUESDAY (2/19)

l NARFE meets at 10 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg with optional lunch following the meeting. Retired federal employees and current active employees are invited.

l Youth T-Ball league registration for the 2013 season for 4, 5, 6 and 7-year-old players is underway. Applications can be picked up at the Boys & Girls Club until March 15. An e-version of the application is also available  by contacting Aaron Gurley. Cost is $30 per player with the season kicking off with the jamboree April 27.

WEDNESDAY (2/20)

l Rushville Music Study Club will meet at 7 p.m. at St Paul’s Methodist Church. Note change in meeting date. Nancy Mitchell is the program chair and Donna Kuhn is the hostess.

THURSDAY (2/21)

l Purdue Extension Rush County and the Rush County Soil and Water Conservation District joint Annual Meeting at 6 p.m. at Center Christian Church. Info: 932-5974. Program presented by Dan Moll about the Civil War from a southern secessionist’s perspective.

l “Know the 10 Signs,” a free workshop on detecting the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Area 9 Agency on Aging, 520 S. 9th St., Richmond. The free session requires registration by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

FRIDAY (2/22)

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Club.

SATURDAY (2/23)

l First Christian Assembly of God in Rushville is hosting a Community Sing from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening will start with a fundraising dinner at 5 p.m. The charge is $5 per person; 2 and under eat free.

l Raleigh Community Club dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturday, until April 11, 2013. Everyone welcomed.

SUNDAY (2/24)

l Financial aid professionals will be volunteering at Ivy Tech Community College-Richmond in Johnson Hall and 40 other Indiana sites to help college-bound students and their families open the door to financial aid during College Goal Sunday, set for 2 p.m. Feb. 24. The free program is designed to assist Indiana students seeking undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in 2013 in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans and scholarships at most colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools nationwide and must be filed by March 10 to be eligible for state aid. l Manilla Town and Country Homemakers Club will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with dinner and a meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Kopper Kettle Restaurant in Morristown. Evonne Kuhn and Donna Kuhn are planning the event.

Roll call: How long have you been in the club?

l A 4-session series of Parenting Counts is offered Feb. 27, March 6, 13 and 20 from 6:30–8 pm. Sponsored by Purdue Extension and the Rush County Parenting Council these classes are geared toward the parents and family members of children ages birth to age 5. The focus is raising socially and emotionally healthy children. Call 932-5974 to register by Feb. 20. Cost is $10 per family for the entire series. Child care provided by volunteers from the Phoenix House. Class size is limited, so call soon.

FRIDAY (3/1)

l Flatrock Bluegrass Band will be playing a free concert at 6 p.m. at The Gathering, 245 N. Main Street, Rushville. Everyone welcome!

SATURDAY (3/2)

l There will be a benefit for Bill and Tina Bailey starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at the Rushville American Legion. This event is being sponsored by the American Legion Riders. The benefit gets started at 11 a.m. with a cornhole tournament ($10 entry fee). A fried chicken dinner will be served at noon (donations accepted). There will also be a 50/50 drawing, auction, and music by local DJ Kevin Green. To make a monetary donation or to donate something for the auction please call Carla Sharpe at 765-561-5080.

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue.
