OCTOBER

TUESDAY (10/1)

• RCHS Fall Choir Concert (originally scheduled for Oct. 3rd) has been moved to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts on the RCHS campus.

• Ribbon Cutting for new Elementary School Trail and Harcourt Way walking trails in Rushville will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 1. Meet at Comfort Inn West parking lot.

• U.S. Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) staff will visit Connersville City Hall, 504 N. Central Ave., in Fayette County from 10 a.m. to noon to meet with local residents and assist Hoosiers experiencing problems with a federal agency.

• Heavy Trash Pick Up. South of the Flatrock River Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.

• The first Tuesday of every month a free health check is available at Miller’s Merry Manor, 2 to 3 p.m. Blood Pressure, blood sugar and weight checks. Refreshments will be available.

• The City dump will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. the weeks of Sept. 23 through Oct. 4 if you would like to dispose of your own heavy trash at no charge.

WEDNESDAY (10/2)

• Columbus Star Quilters Guild regular meeting at the Masonic Lodge at 4131 Rocky Ford Road, the corner of Taylor and Rocky Ford Roads. All interested persons welcome. no charge for the regular Wednesday meeting. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. JoAnn Ferguson will talk about her foundation-pieced jackets that win so many ribbons at area quilt shows. Bring a Show ‘n Tell for the meeting.

FRIDAY (10/4)

• Community Bingo at Miller’s Merry Manor on the first Friday of each month at 2 p.m. Free and open to the public! Join us for an hour of fun and a chance to win prizes! Please call 765-932-4127 with any questions.

• The Rushville Eagles will host Bingo on Fridays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. The community is invited. Information: 765-561-7472.

SATURDAY (10/5)

• The RCHS Jazz Combo will be performing at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rush County Farmer’s Market.

• Rushville Eagles will host a Fish Fry starting at 6 p.m. $5 carryout $7 all you can eat. Open to the public.

• Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

• Rush County Farmers Market continues each Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Third and Main Streets, Rushville.

• Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

MONDAY (10/7)

• Join Purdue educator Gracie Marlatt for an overview of the program, “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate,” a curriculum developed by the University of Minnesota Extension. Join Gracie at noon in the Rush County Courthouse Assembly Room or at 7 p.m. at the Rush County Fair Office, 1299 N. Sexton Street. Local attorney Julie Newhouse will be present at the 7 p.m. session. Multiple generations are encouraged to attend together. Reservations are not necessary but helpful. Call Purdue Extension Rush County at 932-5974. Passing on personal possessions is a process that occurs for almost every person in every kind of family. Although this non-titled property is often not listed in the will, transferring it to the next generation can have a major impact on family relationships. Open to the public.

FRIDAY (10/11)

• Milroy PTO Annual Fall Festival from 5-8 p.m. at Milroy Elementary. Chili supper, dine in or carry out, silent auction, vendor booths, children’s games and raffle items. Dinner and raffle tickets call 629-2323 or available at the door. Proceeds help with field trips, new playground equipment and other school activities.

• Elementary School age student dance from 6-8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Rush County. $3 per person. D.J. Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

SATURDAY (10/12)

• DAR meeting will be at noon on Oct. 12 at the Main Street Christian Church. Hostesses for the luncheon meeting will be the officers.

• Rushville Eagles will host a breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m. Sausage gravy, Biscuits, eggs, hash browns, milk, juice and coffee. Free will donations. Open to the public.

• Rushville Eagle Riders will sponsor a Benefit in memory of Rita Hornaday. The benefit will help the family with funeral expenses.

• Rush County Farmers Market continues each Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Third and Main Streets, Rushville.

• Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

WEDNESDAY (10/16)

• All Pro Dads Chapter meets at RESE/RESW. Their first meeting of the school year is at 7:15 a.m. Oct. 16 in the West Gym.

• The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

• In cooperation with the Rush County Food Pantry (RCCA), the Gleaners Mobile Food Bank will be bringing a truck load of food to the Main Street Christian Church parking lot, 615 N. Main St., Rushville, on the first Monday of each month for distribution to local residents. The distribution will be made between 4 and 6 p.m. Residents will need to bring their own containers (sacks or boxes) to put their food into.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.
