JUNE

FRIDAY (6/7)

l RCP’s season-ending production of “I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together.” Named after Carol Burnett’s theme song, and featuring skits from her classic sketch comedy show, RCP’s version will also feature selections from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, The Tonite Show with Johnny Carson and others. Shows are scheduled for June 7, 8 and 9 at RCP’s new home, 306 N. Main., Rushville.

l Community Bingo at Miller’s Merry Manor on the first Friday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Free and open to the public! Join us for an hour of fun and a chance to win prizes! Please call 765-932-4127 with any questions.

SATURDAY (6/8)

l Rush County Fair Queen Pageant, 7 p.m., Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost $5 at the door.

l Changing Footprints Chicken Fry Dinner with homemade desserts, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Knights of Columbus, 227 E. Third St., Rushville. Adults $10, children $6, under 6 free. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, slaw or applesauce, and dessert. All white meat $1 extra. Bake Sale and Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit Changing Footprints shoe charity. Open to the public. Information 932-2277. Proceeds support Changing Footprints shoe collection and distribution.

l Rush County Farmers Market continues each Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Third and Main Streets, Rushville. Come out, shop locally, and enjoy the RCHS Jazz Combo’s performance during the market this Saturday.

l Relay for Life Car Wash, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at O’Reilly Auto Parts, Rushville.

l The Rush County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge. Most of the meeting will be devoted to how we can coordinate and assist the Rush County Historical Society in their efforts.

l Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

SUNDAY (6/9)

l June 9 to 15 will be Food Pantry Days at Waggener Community Pool. Those who bring canned goods for the Food Pantry will get a $1 off admission.

l Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department Annual Chicken Dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the firehouse. Free will donation.

TUESDAY (6/11)

l Parents and family are invited to join in the Band Boosters which normally meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the RCHS Band room. The June meeting will be held Tuesday, June 11 instead. Please make note of the change in meeting date for June. Families with middle school and high school band students are encouraged to come to meetings and be a part of the Band Booster program.

WEDNESDAY (6/12)

l DAR meeting will be held on June 12, 2013 at the home of Linda Clarkson.

l The Rushville Music Study Club will present the annual year end program at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. The program will feature musical selections from the monthly programs and also the presentation of the $1,000 Scholarship Award to Ben Wenche. Open to the public. Free will offering taken to support the scholarship program.

l Rush County Health Department Senior Screening, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Rush County Health Department, Room 105, Rush County Courthouse. This is available to all Rush County senior citizens at no cost. Information: 765-932-3103.

l Relay For Life - Friday, June 14,  at 6 p.m. through June 15 at 6 p.m.

l Concert - Georgia Satellites free concert at the Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater.

l The RCHS Class of 1988 will celebrate their 25 year reunion by gathering at the Riverside Park Ampitheater in Rushville at 5 p.m. June 15 with plans to stay for the free Summer Concert with Georgia Satellites that night.

l Alex’s 5th Annual Memorial Ride - sign up 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Rushville Eagles Lodge - Ride leaves at 12:00 noon - $15 per bike - $5 per added rider - All proceeds and donations benfit the Alex Workman Memorial Fund - for more information contact Joanne Holmes (bobnjojo613@yahoo.com) or 765-932-5303.

l Milroy Economic Development Corporation 6th Annual Golf Outing at Antler Pointe Golf Course, 3510 N 150 E (Fort Wayne Road), Rushville. Monday raised will be used for ongoing capital improvements in the Milroy community. Check in 8 a.m. Tee off 8:30 a.m. Lunch 12:30 p.m. Lunch only ticket $15. SUNDAY (6/16)

l Holli Spaeth Day at Stagg’s Restaurant and Dairy Treats. A portion of the sale from that day will go to the Holli Spaeth Memorial Scholarship at the Rush County Community Foundation.  Donations will also be accepted. This scholarship has helped 49 students with their tuition since 2003. Please come and join Holli’s family and enjoy a great meal and wonderful ice cream treats.

WEDNESDAY (6/19)

l The Corner Restaurant will show support for Mesothelioma warrior Janelle Bedel by hosting an all day event to raise funds for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. They will donate 20 percent of sales the entire day to this organization that has done much to support Janelle on her journey.

l The Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will have a dinner meeting at 6 p.m. at the Cow Palace in Shelbyville. Thelma Myer will be the hostess. Marjorie Carmony will provide devotions. Roll Call: A favorite item purchased at an auction. Sharon Wooley will give the lesson on “Household Appraisals & Auctions.”

l Briar Patch Players summer theater program present their annual show about life in Rush County at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Art, RCHS Campus. Showtimes at 5 and 7 p.m. June 22; 3, 5 and 7 p.m. June 23; 5 and 7 p.m. June 24. Enjoy air conditioning during the Rush County Fair.

l The 15th annual Jason D. Kuhn Memorial Golf Scramble at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course. Tee time 12:30 p.m. Registration beginning 11 a.m. Community hog roast sponsored by Avery Dennison immediately following the announcement of the tournament winners. The public is invited to attend the hog roast and make a donation. l The class reunion is scheduled for June 22, the same day as the RHS/RCHS Annual Reunion. The schedule, however, has been arranged so that members of the Class of 1963 can attend both events. The ’63 Reunion will be held in the 201 Building in Rushville. Information: 932-4118.

MONDAY (6/24)

l RCHS Lions and Lady Lions Summer Tennis Camp June 24-28. Boys 10:30 to noon. Girls 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the RCHS tennis courts. Grades three and up. $25. Sign up at the Rushville Republican and the Boys and Girls Club of Rush County. Tennis rackets if you do not have your own. Wear appropriate clothing and bring your drinking water.

TUESDAY (6/25)

l The Manna Mission will be holding their free monthly meal from 5 to 7 p.m. in the dining area of Main Street Christian Church, 615 Main Street, Rushville. If you know of someone that needs a hot and healthy meal, please send them our way.

THURSDAY (6/27)

l Rush County Retired Teachers Association meeting, noon, conference room at Rush Memorial Hospital. Carol Greiser, incoming state president, will be the speaker.

SATURDAY (6/29)

l Rush County Chorale performances would be held June 29 and 30 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts at the RCHS campus.
