JULY

SATURDAY (7/7)

l Rushville Church of Christ will have a Vacation Bible School Kickoff at 2 p.m. at 627 W. 11th St., to register children from ages 4 through high school for this summer's VBS. There will be games, cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn.

l The Farmer's Market begins at 9 a.m. on Saturdays, and ends around Oct. 6. Located on East Third Street in downtown Rushville, the hours are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market consists of homegrown produce and plants, craft vendors baked goods and more.

SUNDAY (7/8)

l The Rush County Youth Group Workcamp will be held July 8 to 14.

l Orange High School Reunion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lion's Club Building in New Salem. A buffet will be served at noon. Reservations and payment needed by June 25. Reservations and information: Duane Beaver 317-898-1034 or Flossie McFall 765-825-1232.

l Arlington Christian Church SonSurf Beach Bash Vacation Bible School, ages three years (potty trained) through sixth grade, 6:30 to 8:40 p.m. Sunday, July 8, through Thursday, July 12. The closing program will be at 6 p.m. Friday, July 13 beginning with a picnic of hot dogs and chips and the program at 7 p.m. Information, contact the church office at 663-2329 or Noreen Kemple at 663-2756.

MONDAY (7/9)

l F.I.T. WALKABOUT, 8 a.m., Cross County course to Nature Center, meet at BRMS circle drive. Organized by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County to get Rush County out and walking. Open to the public. Information: 932-5974.

l Little Flatrock Christian Church Vacation Bible School, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 9 to 13 at the church, 2471 S 450 E. The theme this year is "Adventures on Promise Island." All children ages 3 through 6th grade are invited.

l A free day camp is being offered by Family Service and Prevention Program at the Veterans Memorial Park shelter house 9 a.m. to  noon daily July 9 through July 20 for children ages 9-14. Early registration is not required, with parents registering their child at the shelter house Monday morning.

THURSDAY (7/12)

l All Local 1118 UAW Roots Blower Retirees who are drawing a pension from the union are eligible to join in the retiree pitch-in dinner at 11:30 a.m. at Eastside Methodist Church in Connersville. Please bring a filled covered dish. Drinks, plates, etc., provided. Bring spouse/friend. Widows welcome. Casual event.

FRIDAY (7/13)

l Big Flatrock Christian Church Annual Pork Chop Supper from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Manilla Fire Department, SR 44, Manilla. Tickets are $7. The Dorcas Circle II will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a kitchen basket and a handmade baby afghan.

l RCHS Class of Ô82 reunion at John Rosfeld's (1031W 300N). Festivities start at 6 p.m. Info: Beth Douglass Silcox via FB.

l Skylar's Journey fundraiser at Caldwell Pioneer Acres, 3707S 200W, Rushville. Gates open at noon. Entrance fee of $5 includes hog roast. Live bands, bounce house, rock climbing wall, slide, obstacle course, etc. Camping available ($35 electric/$10 primitive). Also, "poker run" with registration at 10 a.m. at Rushville Eagles. SUNDAY (7/15)

l The Rush County Chorale will present two performances of American music on Sunday, July 15 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Performance times are 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 and are available from Chorale members or at the door on the day of the performances.

l The Danny E. and Barbara J. Gettinger and Family Day at Stagg's Restaurant

and Dairy Treats. A portion of sales from this day will go to the Danny E. and Barbara J. Gettinger and Family Scholarship Fund at the Rush County Community Foundation. This fund provides scholarships to graduates of RCHS who are studying the field of agriculture at a 2 or 4 year college, university, vocational school or ag short course. Please come and visit with the Gettinger Family and enjoy great food! Donations will also be accepted.

l Relay for Life of Rush County from 6 p.m. July 20 to 6 p.m. July 21, Memorial Park. This year's theme is Stars, Stripes, Relay as we honor our Veterans and raise funds for all the programs and research the American Cancer Society supports. Information: 765-969-8282.

SUNDAY (7/22)

l The Lora Brook Hatfield Day at Stagg's Restaurant and Dairy Treats. A portion of sales from that day will go to the Lora Brook Hatfield Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Rush County Community Foundation. This fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors from RCHS and Knightstown Community High School. Please come and visit with the Hatfield and Newton Families and enjoy great food! Donations will also be accepted.

l RCHS Band Camp runs July 23 through 27.

THURSDAY (7/26)
