OCTOBER

TUESDAY (10/15)

• Team up with other Milroy Elementary dads and kids for a before school breakfast and brief program. The Milroy All Pro Dad’s will meet from 7:15 to 8 a.m. Enter through door #13 at the Milroy Cafeteria. RSVP to Shawn Frakes at frakess@rushville.k12.in.us

WEDNESDAY (10/16)

• Park Restaurant Town Hall Meeting – There will be a Town Hall Meeting on the former park restaurant building at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Council Chambers, 270 West 15th Street, Rushville. The former park restaurant building will be open at 5 p.m. for viewing.

• All Pro Dads Chapter meets at RESE/RESW. Their first meeting of the school year is at 7:15 a.m. Oct. 16 in the West Gym.

THURSDAY (10/17)

• Rush County 4-H Poultry will be hosting a poultry workshop at 6;30 p.m. at the Root Building on the Fairgrounds in Rushville. Twain Lockhart (aka Mr. Cluck) will be preseting the program. This is a free workshop and is open to the public.

FRIDAY (10/18)

• The Rushville Eagles will host Bingo on Fridays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. The community is invited. Information: 765-561-7472.

SATURDAY (10/19)

• A free Haunted Trail and Hayrides will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 19 and Saturday Oct. 26 at the Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater.The 12th annual Halloween Costume Parade will begin with sign-ups at 4 p.m, the parade at 5 p.m. and judging for all ages, including adults at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 26 at the Riverside Park Amphitheater. In case of raid, meet at the Livestock Pavilion at the Rush County Fairgrounds.

• Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

SUNDAY (10/20)

• The Gathering is hosting a Harvest Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Greg and Janice Hartwells, 5813 East Base Road, Glendale. Supper, games and fun! Please RSVP to Greg Hartwell at 765-561-1134. Everyone welcome!

• Rush County Schools Fall Break, Monday, Oct. 21 to Oct. 25.

SATURDAY (10/26)

TUESDAY (10/29)

• The Manna Mission will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Christian Church. Eat-in and Carry-outs are available. If you have any relatives or members of your churches that cannot attend the free meal, please feel free to get your loved ones a meal and take it to their homes.

WEDNESDAY (10/30)

• The Manilla Town and Country Homemakers Club will meet on at 7 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, 7025 E 100 N, Shelbyville. Kathy Wright is hostess with Sharon Wooley as co-hostess Donna Kuhn will give devotions. Kathy will lead a lesson on "Who Get's Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate? Roll Call: Share something from Grandmother. Members should note that this meeting is being held one week later than originally planned.

THURSDAY (10/31)

• Halloween in Milroy. There will be a trunk and treat this year on Oct. 31 for one night only. The Methodist Church and Christian Church are having a Trunk or Treat at the Christian Church parking lot. Trick and treat's can come there and pick up treats. The Community Club is having a parade from the Methodist Church parking lot to the Christian Church parking lot.

FRIDAY (11/1)

SUNDAY (11/3)

• Holiday Bazaar-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Batesville Primary School on State Highway 46W. Free admission. Sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi sorority. More than 140 booths selling wood crafts, handmade items, seasonal decorations, jewelry, baskets, candles, and more. Check out the popular Cookie Walk for some homemade cookies and enjoy lunch which is prepared and served by the sorority sisters while supplies last. All proceeds go to local charities. TUESDAY (11/5)

• The first Tuesday of every month a free health check is available at Miller’s Merry Manor, 2 to 3 p.m. Blood Pressure, blood sugar and weight checks. Refreshments will be available.

WEDNESDAY (11/6)

• Columbus Star Quilters’ Guild regular meeting at the Masonic Lodge at 4131 Rocky Ford Road, the corner of Taylor and Rocky Ford Roads. All interested persons are welcome to attend. There is no charge for the regular Wednesday meeting. After a brief meeting, the Guild will work on their service projects. Please bring your machine and any other sewing instruments you might require. Also don't forget to bring a Show ‘n Tell for the meeting. The doors open at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.

FRIDAY (11/8)

• Elementary School age student dance from 6-8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Rush County. $3 per person. D.J. Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

SATURDAY (11/9)

• Holiday Expo, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rushville Elementary School East and West gyms. Many vendors will be participating including craft vendors, various home consultants and businesses. There will also be a bake sale, lunch and door prizes. Admission $1. This event is a fundraiser for Rushville Victim's Assistance, Inc., St. Mary's PTA and the Rushville Republican Newspapers in Education. This is a great time to start your Christmas shopping, so please come and enjoy the day.

FRIDAY (11/15)

• Christmas on Main Street Celebration with Santa arriving in Rushville.

• The Three Musketeers will open to audiences in November with tickets now available. Show dates and times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 17. Tickets are $7 each with reserved seating in the Laughline Center for the Performing Arts on the RCHS campus. Tickets may be purchased from any cast member or by e-mailing Jennie Tague at taguej@rushville.k12.in.us or by calling her at RCHS at 932-3901 ext. 258.

MISCELLANEOUS

• Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

• Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

• The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

• In cooperation with the Rush County Food Pantry (RCCA), the Gleaners Mobile Food Bank will be bringing a truck load of food to the Main Street Christian Church parking lot, 615 N. Main St., Rushville, on the first Monday of each month for distribution to local residents. The distribution will be made between 4 and 6 p.m. Residents will need to bring their own containers (sacks or boxes) to put their food into.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

• Diabetes education classes are held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at Rush Memorial Hospital Skills Lab, second floor. Cost, $10 per class with a $25 refund if all three classes are attended. Info: 765-932-7416 or dena.bills@rushmemorial.com

• Partners for a Healthy Rush County meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Boys & Girls Club. Open to all interested businesses, organizations or individuals in Rush County.
