Jacquelyn Hastings won the high jump.

Kayla Shelton won the shot put.

Hope Noe took first place in the 3200 and Katelyn Buckley was first in the 400.

The Lady Lions also swept the relay events. The 3200 relay team consisted of Monica Dougherty, Brooke Drake, McKenzie Conrad and Noe. The 400 team was made up of Mikayla Dougherty, Meece, Marisa Hall and Katie Newbold.

The 1600 relay was won by the team of Mikayla Dougherty, Emilee Rogers, Laker and Drake.

“Indiana weather has not cooperated with us very well to start this season. The girls have been practicing outside in really difficult conditions and their hard work paid off in this first contest,” Coach Jim Helsley noted. “I have been impressed by some of our veteran athletes like Autumn Meece and Mikayla Dougherty. They have really worked well with the large freshmen class we added this year. Freshmen Brooke Taylor and Emilee Rogers both finished in second place respectively in their races in this meet as well. I’m really excited to see how their continued hard work pays off during the remainder of the season.”
