TUESDAY (10/2)

l Fall heavy trash pick up - South of Flatrock River - Pick up Oct. 1-5.

WEDNESDAY (10/3)

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public. Try Hoofin’ It on Harcourt. The group will explore the paved path north of Conrad Harcourt Way as well as the new sidewalks. Meet at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot on the east side of the Comfort Inn.

THURSDAY (10/4)

l A 3-session series of Parenting Counts is being offered Oct. 4, 11 & 18 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Sponsored by Purdue Extension and the Rush County Parenting Council these classes are geared toward the parents and family members of children ages birth to age 5. The focus is raising socially and emotionally healthy children. Call 932-5974 to register. $15 per family for the entire series. Child care provided by volunteers from Phoenix House. Class size is limited, so call soon.

SATURDAY (10/6)

l Sons of the American Second Annual Golf Outing to support Rush County youth, 11 a.m., Horse Shoe Bend Golf Course. $200 per team. Prizes awarded for 1st., 2nd. and 3rd. place. 4 person ABCD scramble. Mulligans/Skirts, longest drive/putt. Information, Rick Howard at 765-561-7304. l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $9 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public.

l Candidate Breakfast to raise money for the campaign of Christy Hall for Rush County Coroner, 7 to 10:30 a.m., Knights of Columbus, Rushville.

SUNDAY (10/7)

l The Gathering is inviting the community to come to their family fun evening from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at Memorial Park for pumpkin painting, games and free food for the family. The evening will include great games and free hotdogs, chips and a drink. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this event.

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch. The Elks is trying something new! Every Sunday’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., buffet style all you can eat with bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, shredded has browns, pancakes (with fruit available) and even a manned omelet station! Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

MONDAY (10/8)

l All Rush County vocalists: The Rush County Chorale practices at 7 p.m. in the RCHS choir room. All current members, past members and new vocalists are invited to attend. The Chorale will present the winter program on Dec. 1 and 2 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Practices will continue at 7 p.m. on Mondays.

l Don’t miss the fun, food and family time at the Milroy School Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12. Activities include a hog roast, the County Store, children’s games, a raffle and a silent and live Auction. Tickets for the meal are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets are available at the door Oct. 12. This annual Fall Festival is Milroy’s only fundraiser so come out and support Milroy Elementary School, The new Milroy School is located at 300 N. Walnut, Milroy.

l There will be a family friendly country dance at the Manilla Lions Club on St. Rd. 44. Line dances, couples dances, and lessons from 8 to 11 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, 12 and under free. Information can be found on the Raleigh Country Line Dance facebook page.

l Third Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Zumba-Thon, 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 20, 306 N. Main St., Rushville. Zumba-Thon includes 25 plus vendors, food and fun.
