TUESDAY (8/21)

l Blue River Young Marines orientation for those interested in the program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Dodd's Hall in Morristown. Questions will be answered at the orientation. For more information, go to www.blueriveryoungmarines.com

WEDNESDAY (8/22)

l F.I.T. Walkabout, 7 p.m., Main Street Stroll (heading south). Meet in the SW corner of Wal-Mart parking lot. Everyone welcome! Information: 932-5974.

l Noble Niters, 7 p.m., New Salem Methodist Education Building. Hostesss is Pam Brock. Assistant hostess is Linda Murphy. Lesson: Grains 2.0. Led by Dixie Meyer. Roll call response: What elementary school did you attend? Inspiration by Carla Angle.

THURSDAY (8/23)

l Rush County Medical Reserve Corps will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Room at the courthouse on Thursday, Aug. 23. l Board of Directors of Interlocal CAP, Inc., meet at 6:30 p.m. at Two Johnnys Restaurant in Muncie.

FRIDAY (8/24)

l Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts a dance from 6 to 8 p.m. at the club for elementary school age children. Cost is $3 per child. Kevin Green will D.J. Proceeds benefit the programs of the Boys and Girls Club.

l Manilla Lions Club is hosting a Pork Chop Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at their community building located on State Road 44 on the west side of Manilla. Adults $8; children 12 and under $4.

l Anytime Fitness invites participants of the F.I.T. walkabouts to visit them at 1 p.m. Fridays. You can walk or try other exercise equipment. They do ask non-members to sign the guest register.

SATURDAY (8/25)

l The Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater presents An Innocent Band (Billy Joel Tribute) along with saxophonist Rob Dixon & Triology in concert at 7 p.m. This is a free Show and the final concert in the summer series. Info: 765-932-3735 or e-mail info@rushvilleamphitheater.com.

l Chicken Fry Fundraiser for the Rush County Community Foundation, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 227 E. 3rd St., Rushville. Advance tickets available from Board and Committee members and RCCF office. $9 adults, $6 children 6-12, under 6 are free. All carry-out dinners will be $1 additional. Homemade desserts served. l Milroy Community Day, 4 to 7 p.m. at Milroy United Methodist Church, 114 N. Pleasant St., Milroy. Music, vendors, a Christian puppet show, games, face painting and food that will be served at 5 p.m. Offering taken for Jacob Ping, a young Rush County man who is undergoing cancer treatments for the fourth time in his young life.

l The Nazarene Church on Main Street is holding a benefit car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Carolyn Hittle. You can enter off Main St. She is recovering from surgery and has no insurance.

SUNDAY (8/26)

l Fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Salem Lions Building in New Salem, U.S. 52. sponsored by New Salem United Methodist Church.

MONDAY (8/27)

l The East Hill Cemetery Saunter is back. This is one of the most popular F.I.T. walkabouts. Aug. 27, meet at 5:30 p.m. on the backside of Section 14. Everyone welcome! Information: 932-5974.

TUESDAY (8/28)

l Main Street Christian Church, 615 N. Main St., is offering a free hot meal and fellowship with our friends in need on the last Tuesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The hot meal will consist of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, salads, desserts and drinks. Carry-out available. Info: 932-2997.

WEDNESDAY (8/29)

l F.I.T. Walkabout, 5:30 p.m., Shakin' Smith Acres. Meet at First Baptist Church, 1159 S. Airport Road. Everyone welcome! Information: 932-5974.

l BRMS Open House from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Taco Night from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for students and parents. Book fair.

l RCHS Open House 6:30 to 8 p.m.

FRIDAY (8/31)

l RCHS Band Boosters Fish Fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the RCHS Cafeteria before the first home varsity football game, Rushville Lions vs. Shelbyville. Menu includes fish sandwich (or hotdog), choice of apple sauce or slaw, choice of macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes, and homemade dessert. Tickets will be $6 in advance from any high school band student or $7 at the door. This is the largest fundraiser each year for band student to help with their trip and band equipment costs.
