TUESDAY (4/16)

l Do you know just a little about Microsoft Excel©, but wish you knew more? Find out how to take your knowledge of this versatile program up several notches with Rush County Lifelong Learning’s “Excel Excellence” class. This class will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. through May 7, at 126 S. Main St., Rushville. The cost for the 5-week class is just $35 or you may pay per class attended. It is taught by Ron Shields. Call 765-932-7191 for more information on topics offered each week.

l Would you like the opportunity to appear in several outrageous comedy skits? Then we want you! Auditions for Rush County Player’s season closing sketch comedy show, “I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together,” are from 7-9 p.m. at RCP’s new location, 306 N. THURSDAY (4/18)

l The Rush County Extension Homemakers are hosting a bus trip to Jungle Jim’s on April 18. A few seats are still available and are open to the general public. The trip will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the cost of $30 includes transportation and tour of this special grocery store. For more information contact Purdue Extension - Rush County at 932-5974.

l The Rush County Parenting Council will meet in Room 102 of the Rush County Courthouse. Open to the public, this group is working to motivate participation in opportunities to strengthen parenting effectiveness. FRIDAY (4/19)

l Manilla Lions Club is hosting a Spaghetti Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at their community building located on State Road 44 on the west side of Manilla. Free-will offering with all donations going to Manilla Street Light Fund.

l A Spring Rummage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 19, at from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at Main Street Christian Church, 615 N. Main St., Rushville. All proceeds will go to the Manna Mission Fund. Use the southwest doors and follow the signs.

l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

SATURDAY (4/20)

l RCHS Prom.

l RCP Movies on Main Street will show 2 classic Indiana sports films, ”Hoosiers” and “Breaking Away.” Show time at 7:30, admission $5 for the double-feature, and concessions available. 306 N. Main Street.

l Elks will host a spring flea market day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 223 E. Third St. People can buy a table to set up and shopping is open to the public. For table information contact Marie Philpot at 938-1307. Proceeds will support Elk’s community outreach programs.

l Raleigh Community Club Dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., weekly on Saturdays. Live band. Open to all ages.

SUNDAY (4/21)

l Kyle Henderson Day at Stagg’s Restaurant and Dairy Treats. A portion of the sale from that day will go to the Kyle Henderson Memorial Scholarship at the Rush County Community Foundation. This fund provides a scholarships to students attending an accredited trade or vocation school in agriculture, construction management, heating and cooling, electrical or plumbing. Students should be active in 4-H and/or FFA. Donations accepted. Please come and join Kyle’s family and enjoy a great meal and wonderful ice cream treats.

l Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 6 p.m. for a dinner meeting at the Cow Palace in Shelbyville. Membership dues will be collected.   

THURSDAY (4/25)

l RCHS Band Department presents their Jazz Appreciation Month Concert at 7 p.m. in the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts at RCHS. Big bands from the middle school and the high school will be playing swing and blues from the 40’s and 50’s, fusion from the 70’s, Latin jazz and some original composiitions. One combo from BRMS and two combos from RCHS will be playing a mix of music that will demonstrate their improvisational and musical skills. The concert is free, but the band boosters will be accepting donations to help support the jazz program in Rush County Schools.

l Rush County Player’s rendition of “Inherit the Wind,” show dates are Apr. 26, 27 & 28 and May 3, 4 & 5 at RCP’s new location, 306 N. Main St., Rushville. l Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk supporting Autism Awareness. The course for Mayor Pavey’s Run/Walk will exhibit the trails of the Rushville Parks and Recreation Department. Anyone interested in registering for this

l T-Ball Jamboree.

l St. Mary Catholic School annual Green and White Gala.  The Gala is an opportunity to celebrate St. Mary School. Guest speaker will be John Green (SMS 1990 graduate), the son of Daniel and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Green. All are welcome to attend. l Public meeting on Rushville’s Combined Sewer Overflow system at with the Board of Works, City Council, Utility Board and CSO Steering Committee at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 270 W. 15th Street. IDEM – special guests will be present to take questions regarding the requirements related to CSO’s. This meeting was originally scheduled for April 23 and will instead be held April 29.

l RCHS Annual POPS Concert, 7:30 p.m., all choirs, Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets through RCHS.

l Rush Co. United Santa Helpers (formerly Toys for Tots) will begin their first benefit ride at the Rushville Legion with sign ups from 11 a.m. to noon. The donation is $10 per bike and $5 per rider. The ride schedule will be available the day of the ride which begins at Rushville Eagles. The meal starts at 4 p.m. and will be $5 for non-riders. The evening includes an auction and music. Help Rushville Legion Riders and Rushville Eagle Riders raise the funds for the program. l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.
