SEPTEMBER

SATURDAY (9/8)

l RCHS Football game at Lucas Oil Stadium at 2:30 p.m., Indianapolis.

l Second Annual Gospel Sing beginning at 6 p.m. at Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater. This year's Gospel Sing will honor the military, first responders and the medical field. Many local and regional singers and musicians will be featured. Bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an evening of Gospel Sing. Information: Rushville Park Department at 932-4146.

l Every other month the Phoenix Lodge No. 62 F&AM hosts an all you can eat breakfast. The breakfast is 6:30 to 10 a.m., Sept. 8. The cost is $5.

l Ray's Crossing Days featuring a ÒCountry Store,Ó auction at 1 p.m., food and fun. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ray's Crossing Christian Union Church. Food features rib eye sandwiches, ham and beans cooked over an open fire with cornbread, and hot dogs, 2115 N 600 E, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Just off St. Rd. 44 in Ray's Crossing.

l The Rush County Tox-Away Center at 225 South Smiley Avenue will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 8 for county residents to properly dispose of electronics and hazardous materials. The switch in the September collections date is due to Labor Day weekend.

SUNDAY (9/9)

l St. Mary's Fall Festival, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fifth and Perkins streets.

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch. The Elks is trying something new! Every Sunday's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., buffet style all you can eat with bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, shredded has browns, pancakes (with fruit available) and even a manned omelet station! Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

MONDAY (9/10)

l Walkabouts will revisit the Rushville Lions appearing around town Sept. 10. Start at the Rushville Fire Department at 9 a.m. to check out the downtown lions. Information: 932-5974.

l Learn about ÒRaising Children in Today's WorldÓ by attending a free public presentation at 4:30 p.m. in the Earnest Family Conference Center at Rush Memorial Hospital. Mandi Jackman, one of the Home/School Liaisons with Rush County Schools, will talk about the work that she does with students, parents and teachers to promote school success despite challenges in the students' daily lives. This presentation is being sponsored by the Rush County Extension Homemakers and questions can be directed to 932-5974.

TUESDAY (9/11)

l The Area 9 In-Home and Community Services Agency 20th Senior Picnic for older Hoosiers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at Dunlapsville Pioneer Village on Brookville Lake. Cost is $5.50 for the meal per person and all activities are at no cost. RSVP by Sept. 5 to Area 9 Agency at 765-966-1795 or 1-800-458-9345 to reserve your lunch.

l Special Hours for Food Pantry, 6 to 7 p.m., Sept. 11, 109 E. Third St. Special hours for those working during normal food pantry days.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

l The Carthage Literary Circle will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Carthage Community Center. Everyone is Welcome.

l Milroy Research Literary Club will meet Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, at

l F.I.T. Walkabout participants will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the gazebo in South Veterans Memorial Park. Information: 932-5974.

l The New Salem Lions Club Annual Appreciation Dinner will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the New Salem Lion's Club Building. Bring a canned food item to be donated to the Rush County Food Pantry.

l Roots Blower Retirees Local 118 UAW pitch-in dinner, 11:30 a.m., Eastside Methodist Church, Connersville. Bring filled covered dish. Drinks, plates provided. Bring spouse/friend. Widows welcome.

l The Rushville Lions take on New Palestine at 7 p.m. for Homecoming.

l 7th Annual Donnie Frazier Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, 9 a.m., Sept. 15, Antler Pointe Golf Course. $200 per team includes green fees and meal. Prize money for 1st and 2nd place. 4 person ABCD scramble. Minimum team handicap (5-up). Mulligans, skins/shirt, longest drive/putt. l Kyle Henderson Memorial Scholarship Day at Rushville Pizza King North and South. Ten percent of all sales benefit the fund at Rush County Community Foundation. Scholarships are awarded annually to a RCHS senior planning to study a field related to agriculture, HV/AC or electricity.

MONDAY (9/17)

l All Rush County vocalists: The Rush County Chorale will begin practices at 7 p.m. in the RCHS choir room. All current members, past members and new vocalists are invited to attend this practice. The Chorale will present the winter program on Dec. 1 and 2 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Practices will continue at 7 p.m. on Mondays.

l Fall heavy trash pick up - North of Flatrock River - Set out Sept. 17-23. Pick up Sept. 24-28. South of Flatrock River - Set out Sept. 24-30. Pick up Oct. 1-5.

WEDNESDAY (9/19)

l Rushville Music Study Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the home of Marsha Chambers. There will be a lite meal followed by a regular meeting. Please phone the hostess with regrets.

SATURDAY (9/22)

l Brian's Cause opening ceremoinies at 9:30 a.m. on the Rush Memorial Hospital campus, 1300 N. Man St. The ÒTogether We CanÓ 2-mile-walk will follow with participants walking a two-mile loop through Rushville before returning to the RMH campus. On-site health fair from 10 a.m. to noon. TUESDAY (9/25)

l Main Street Christian Church, 615 N. Main St., will be offering a FREE Hot Meal and fellowship with our friends in need on the last Tuesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The hot meal will consist of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, salads, desserts and drinks. Check in and late registration 8:30 to 9 a.m. Register by Sept. 24 to guarantee a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit Rushville Rotary Club local scholarships.
