SEPTEMBER

FRIDAY (9/14)

l Milroy United Methodist Church Rummage Sale, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Fill a sack for a dollar on Saturday. The community is invited to come enjoy the sale at 114 N. Pleasant Street, Milroy.

l The Rushville Lions take on New Palestine at 7 p.m. for Homecoming.

l Rush County Players presents, "The Little Rushcals,"at the Gazebo in South Veterans Memorial Park, off of West 11th Street in Rushville. Some seating will be provided, but you may bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Show dates are at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14; 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15; and at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.

SATURDAY (9/15)

l The annual RCHS Homecoming dance is 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Rushville Elementary School East.

l 7th Annual Donnie Frazier Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, 9 a.m., Sept. 15, Antler Pointe Golf Course. $200 per team includes green fees and meal. Prize money for 1st and 2nd place. 4 person ABCD scramble. Minimum team handicap (5-up). Mulligans, skins/shirt, longest drive/putt. l Golf Scramble for the Lora Brook Hatfield Scholarship at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course. $200 for 4 person team; registration at 8; tee time at 9; meal included. Lots of items for silent auctions; golfing is not required to attend. Contact Nancy Newton at 765-663-2335 if interested.

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch. The Elks is trying something new! Every Sunday's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., buffet style all you can eat with bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, shredded has browns, pancakes (with fruit available) and even a manned omelet station! Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

l Kyle Henderson Memorial Scholarship Day at Rushville Pizza King North and South. Ten percent of all sales benefit the fund at Rush County Community Foundation. Scholarships are awarded annually to a RCHS senior planning to study a field related to agriculture, HV/AC or electricity.

MONDAY (9/17)

l All Rush County vocalists: The Rush County Chorale will begin practices at 7 p.m. in the RCHS choir room. All current members, past members and new vocalists are invited to attend this practice. The Chorale will present the winter program on Dec. 1 and 2 at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. Practices will continue at 7 p.m. on Mondays.

l Fall heavy trash pick up - North of Flatrock River - Set out Sept. 17-23. Pick up Sept. 24-28. South of Flatrock River - Set out Sept. 24-30. Pick up Oct. 1-5.

TUESDAY (9/18)

l Fathers and students of the Local All Pro Dad Day Chapter at Mays Elementary School will gather at 7:25 a.m. for their monthly breakfast meeting. For more information on the Mays chapter, contact Matt Vance at vancem@rushville.k12.in.us

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public. Join in Rockin' Rivercrest for a unique neighborhood walk. Meet at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Riverpointe Suites, 210 E US Highway 52, better known as Herdrich's Petroleum.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

WEDNESDAY (9/19)

l Rushville Music Study Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the home of Marsha Chambers. There will be a lite meal followed by a regular meeting. Please phone the hostess with regrets.

THURSDAY (9/20)

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public - come Meander through Mays. Anyone interested in joining in the walk should meet at 5:30 p.m. at Mays Elementary School.

FRIDAY (9/21)

l Arlington Elementary School annual Hog Roast, 4:30 to 7 p.m., Arlington Elementary Cafeteria. The Carnival of Fun runs from 5 to 7 pm. Auction at 6 p.m. Meal $7. Meal includes pork sandwich, applesauce, chips, greenbeans, dessert and a beverage. Extra sandwich $3 while the kid's hotdog meal is $5.

SATURDAY (9/22)

l Brian's Cause opening ceremoinies at 9:30 a.m. on the Rush Memorial Hospital campus, 1300 N. Man St. The "Together We Can" 2-mile-walk will follow with participants walking a two-mile loop through Rushville before returning to the RMH campus. On-site health fair from 10 a.m. to noon. A silent auction is planned and lunch will be served. Information: Michele Gettinger 765-932-4111.

l On Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon, the Rush County Conservation Club will host the 3rd annual Outdoor Adventure Expo, sponsored by the Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance and the Rush County Coonhunters. An open shoot will begin at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public so come out and join in fun for the whole family.

l Coleman and Dunn Family Reunion, meal at noon, at Laughlin Park (West End) in Rushville. Chicken, table service and drinks provided. Bring covered dish, auction items and any family photos you would like to share. Games and prizes planned. MONDAY (9/24)

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public. We all know that golfing is a good fitness activity. This time we will leave the clubs and balls behind, and just walk. It's called Amblin' Around Antler Pointe. Meet in the parking lot of the golf course at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAY (9/25)

l Main Street Christian Church, 615 N. Main St., will be offering a FREE Hot Meal and fellowship with our friends in need on the last Tuesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The hot meal will consist of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, salads, desserts and drinks. l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public. Join in on Cruisin' Calvary. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the south end of Calvary Cemetery on Fort Wayne Road.

THURSDAY (9/27)

l Rush County Retired Teachers next meeting will be at noon Sept. 27 at the First Baptist Church.

SATURDAY (9/29)

l Rushville Rotary Club 5K Run and Walk, 9 a.m., Sept. 29, RCHS Gym. Entry fee $15 adults and $10 child 11-17 years old. Check payable to Rushville Rotary Club. Check in and late registration 8:30 to 9 a.m. Register by Sept. 24 to guarantee a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit Rushville Rotary Club local scholarships. l Rush County's fall festival, Rush Fest, will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in Downtown Rushville. Watch for specific event and activity times during the day.

l F.I.T. Walkabout open to the public as part of Rush Fest. Finish the day with the Walkabout, Celebrate RushFest, in Riverside Park. Meet at 2 p.m. at the lion by the amphitheater.

SUNDAY (9/30)

l Purdue Extension Rush Co. is planning to offer the Master Gardener classes again this fall. If you are interested in taking the classes, please contact the Extension office at 932-5974. Registration deadline is Sept. 30.
