Kristin Claire Mahan and Justin Dean Scheumann were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne with the Rev. Paul Spira officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Julie) Mahan of Rushville are parents of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Jayne) Scheumann of Auburn, Ind., are parents of the groom.
Mike Woods served as pianist for the ceremony. Trumpeter was Joe Morgan and Lance Connolly as vocalist.
Readers were Jim Fuhrman and Barry Kunkle, sponsors of the groom, and Christina Mahan Hall, aunt and Godmother of the bride.
The bride wore a beautiful diamond white gown with a modified sweetheart neckline and a fit and flair silhouette. The gown featured a French tulle overlay with elegant embroidery accentuated with Swarovski crystals. The back of the gown was accented with crystal buttons, and the chapel-length train was subtlely scalloped. Her cathedral-length veil was made of French tulle and accented with bugle beads and crystals. The bride’s rounded, hand-tied bouquet in shades of white and ivory was composed of blanc de blanc garden roses, white hydrangeas, Queen Anne’s lace, and silver brunnia berries. The stems were wrapped in antique white satin ribbon. The bride’s rosary was entwined in her bouquet, and she carried an embroidered handkerchief which belonged to her maternal great-grandmother. The bride’s mother and sister also carried this handkerchief in their weddings.
Katherine (Kari) McClellan, sister of the bride, of Fort Wayne, was Matron of Honor.
Bridesmaids were Tamra Marks, friend of the bride, of Indianapolis; Jessica Alsman, friend of the bride, of Indianapolis; Lindsey Olsen, friend of the bride, of Indianapolis; and Stefanie Christensen, sister of the groom, of Indianapolis.
The bridesmaids wore floor-length strapless gowns of pewter taffeta featuring sweetheart necklines and A-line skirts. The gowns were accessorized with earrings, a brooch at the waistline, and a winter white fur shoulder shrug, which were gifts from the bride. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were styled as a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet with dusty miller accents and banded in pewter satin ribbon.
Clare Christensen, niece of the groom, of Indianapolis, was flower girl.
Clinton McClellan, friend of the groom and brother-in-law of the bride, of Fort Wayne, was Best Man.
Groom’s attendants were David Valdez, friend of the groom, of Dyer, Ind.; Caleb Drane, friend of the groom, of Alpena, Mich.; Digger Alsman, friend of the groom, of Eugene, Ore.; and Dustin Deter, friend of the groom, of Auburn, Ind.
Andrew Christensen, nephew of the groom, of Indianapolis, was ring bearer.
Ushers were Carl Liggett and Curt Liggett, cousins of the bride, of Rushville, and Connor Scheumann, nephew of the groom, of Fort Wayne.
Elaine King, aunt of the groom, registered guests.
Grandparents attending included Mr. and Mrs. Wayman Mahan, grandparents of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thrush, grandparents of the groom. Honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Joni) Alverson, uncle and aunt of the bride.
The reception was held at The Landmark Centre in Fort Wayne.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School and a 2009 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Retail Management.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 2011 graduate of Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management.
The groom is a Technical Sergeant in the Fuels Management Branch of the Indiana Air National Guard. The bride is an Account Executive at Asher Agency in Fort Wayne.
A rehearsal dinner was held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Don Hall’s Gas House in Fort Wayne. The dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Scheumann.
The couple took a wedding trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They now reside in Fort Wayne.
