wedding: Blair-Papesh

Jennifer Rose Papesh and Michael Carey Blair were married Oct. 25, 2008 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Father Guy Roberts officiated the double ring ceremony.

Jennifer is the daughter of Stephen and Cathy Papesh of Indianapolis, and Michael is the son of Les and Marcia Blair of Rushville.

The bride’s gown was an ivory empire waist lace dress, covered in pearls, crystals, and sequins. She wore a headpiece made from wax orange blossoms from her grandmother who was married in 1941. The lace on her Fenwick-style veil was originally purchased by her great-grandmother, who had sewn the veil for her daughter, as Jennifer’s mother did for her.

Jennifer carried the wedding rings of both grandmothers and her mother in a small pouch in her bouquet. She also carried a rosary made of rose petals collected for several years, many from the groom.

Joellyn Robbins, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor, and Megan O’Brien, the bride’s longtime friend, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Helen Peabody, friend of the bride, and Emily Butcher and Eileen Papesh, the bride’s sisters.

Best men were Patrick Blair, brother of the groom, and David Dragoo, longtime friend. Groomsmen attending were Jason Miller and Jeremy Schutz of Indianapolis, and Will Barada, New Palestine, all friends of the groom.

Ushers were Chris Burkhardt, Rushville, and Herb Robbins, Summerville, S.C.

Elizabeth Rosemeyer of Plainfield was flower girl and Christian Blair, the groom’s nephew and godson, was ring bearer.

Cantor/vocalist for the service was Meredith Riley. Gregory Papesh, the bride’s brother, was accompanist, and Jennifer’s father Steve played guitar and sang “The Wedding Song.” Readers included Nancy Roberson, and Tom Moster and Les Blair of Rushville.

The bride’s grandmother, Marjorie Eby, was in attendance.

A dinner reception followed the ceremony at River Glen Country Club in Fishers.

The Friday evening rehearsal dinner was hosted by Les and Marcia Blair at Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel.

The bride is a speech therapist in the Indianapolis Public Schools, and the groom is manager of Gray Eagle Golf Club in Fishers.

The couple resides in Indianapolis. They plan to take a trip next spring.
