n The 57th Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday at the Rush County Courthouse in Commissioners Room 102. From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. individuals may participate in a prayer vigil in room 102 of the courthouse to offer silent prayers for our nation. Prayers are offered for our national, county, and city leaders, plus the military, business, education, church and family centers of our nation. Printed resources will be available to guide individuals in their prayers, and to lift up the names of our local governmental leaders. Stop by room 102 as your schedule permits, for a few minutes or longer. Local pastors will be present throughout the day to answer questions and for assistance. Theme is "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield," based on Psalm 28:7.

n Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation is hosting an open house of the Foundation office from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday for the public and staff of Rush Memorial. To find the office, come in the 13th Street entrance, take the elevator to the third floor, go to first door on the right. Stop in to see where the RMH Foundation is located, learn a little about the foundation, enjoy a few refreshments and to see our new line of friend and patient gifts! Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday.

n The Rush County Health Department will conduct its next immunization clinic for children from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 105 of the Rush County Courthouse. Immunizations available are diptheria, tetanus, whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, Hib, hepatitis B, chickenpox, prevnar and meningococcal. These are free of charge from the Indiana State Department of Health. Parents or guardians are required to sign permission forms each time the child receives an immunization. Records of previous immunizations should be brought in with the child. These clinics are held the first Thursday of each month from September to May.

SATURDAY (5/3)

n The Manilla School reunion will be Saturday at the Manilla Lions Club. Former students, teachers and staff are welcome to attend. Registration starts at noon with meal served at 1 p.m. Cost is $14. Checks should be made payable to the Manilla Alumni Association and mailed by April 21 to Teola Carmony, 2007 Augusta Court, Shelbyville IN 46176. Honored classes will be 1948, 1958 and 1968. n The P.R.O.P.H.E.T.S. Relay for Life team will have a breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the New Salem Lions Club. Menu includes biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, doughnuts, beverage. Free will offering. Everyone is invited.

n RHS/RCHS Alumni Association will have its annual Derby Day envelope stuffing event at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rush County Senior Center. The more volunteers the faster the letters will get stuffed into the envelopes ready to mail.

n The monthly meeting of the VFW is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at the VFW located on East Water Street behind the Kroger store. Items on the agenda include the new VA van that will be delivered in May, schedule of events that will need veterans participation and determining the schedule for placing flags on veterans’ graves at East Hill and Calvary cemeteries in Rushville. This would be a good meeting for prospective members to attend.

n St. Mary Catholic School will have a chicken fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus. Carry-outs available. Price $8.50 adults, $5 children (10 and under). There will be a 50/50 drawing, gift cards will be available for purchase, Mother’s Day flowers can be ordered, and there will be a small auction at 7:30 p.m.

n American Red Cross offering babysitters training course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 325 E. Washington Street, Muncie. Class is for adolescents 11 years old or older. Cost is $25. Bring sack lunch. To preregister or for more information call 800-480-4403.
