Lady Lions fifth at New Palestine

---- — NEW PALESTINE – Eight teams converged on The Links golf course in New Palestine for the annual New Palestine Invitational. The Lady Lions took fifth overall with a 430 team total.

Host New Palestine won the team title with a 374.

Greenfield-Central took second with 411 followed by Anderson 415, Shelbyville 420, the Lady Lions 430, Brebeuf Jesuit 431, Eastern Hancock 486 and Cascade 496.

Anderson’s Morgan Nadaline, who finished eighth at the state finals last season as a junior, earned the medalist honors on the day with a 75.

The Lady Lions were led by freshman Megyn Kirchoff with a personal best (48-50) 98.

Senior Catie Liggett was next for the Lady Lions with (49-53) 102.

Senior Abbey Gulde carded a (53-61) 114.

Senior Kylie Martindale finished with (54-62) 116 and senior Whitley Disbro had a (59-62) 121.

In action Friday, the Lady Lions returned to Highland Lakes golf course to face Centerville. The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Bulldogs 196-246.

Gulde led the way for the day with a 44.

Liggett and Disbro both carded 48.

Kirchoff finished with 56 and Martindale had a 58.

The Lady Lions (2-0) host Shelbyville and Mt. Vernon Tuesday before heading to Franklin County Wednesday.
