Rush County Youth Soccer

Rush County Youth Soccer is looking for students who are interested in playing in the Fall 2013 travel league. Please contact Chris Chastain at rushcountyyouthsoccer@gmail.com or 765- 932-2629 for more information.

RCYF coaches meeting

The Rushville Youth Football League will hold a mandatory coaches meeting at 8 p.m. July 8 at Rushville Consolidated High School. This meeting will be utilized to certify all coaches for grades K-6 as part of the league’s association with USA Football. If you have any questions, please contact Doug Marlow at 765-663-2891.

RCYF registration

The Rushville Youth Football League will be holding resgistration and equipment distribution for grades K-6 from 5 to 8 p.m. July 23 at the Rush County Fairgrounds Community Building. If you have any questions, please contact Doug Marlow at 765-663-2891.

Lambo earns honor

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Indians outfielder Andrew Lambo has been named the International League’s Batter of the Week for the period of June 24-30. The Tribe’s outfielder led the IL by smashing three home runs, all within a four-game span, and slugging an incredible 1.056 during the week, which were also tied for second and fourth in all of Minor League Baseball respectively.

Lambo, who finished the week ranked second in the IL with a .500 batting average (9-for-18) and .609 on-base percentage, produced most of his offensive numbers during the Indians recent four-game series against the Rochester Red Wings. From Tuesday to Friday of last week, the slugger plated each of his IL-best eight runs, knocked all nine hits to tie for the league lead and scored all of his team-high tying four runs over that stretch.

Hamlin cleared to drive for Indy test

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Denny Hamlin was checked and cleared to drive Monday morning before taking his No. 11 car onto the 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis for testing.
