Tigers tame Lions on the mat

---- — In the final home wrestling match of the season, the Lions fell to Triton Central 61-18.

The match started at 120, where Triton Central’s Logan Straber pinned Bailey Ford in 3:18. Triton Central’s D.J. Stewart won by pin (1:37) over Gunner Yurack. Triton Central’s Zach Simpson took a forfeit at 132.

At 138, Triton Central’s Anderson Ross pinned Matthew Fogg in 1:36. Logan Lane of Triton Central pinned Jaykeb Thorp in 1:40 at 145.

At 152, Triton Central’s Johnny Hollingsworth and Preston Bowling battled to a 0-0 tie after the first round. Hollingsworth took a 2-1 lead after the second round and went on to the 7-1 victory.

The Tigers followed that match with four straight pins. Anthony Bear pinned James McLaughlin in 1:58 at 160. Daniel Simpson pinned Jakob Lambert in 1:52 at 170. Jamison Pittman pinned Satchel Kuhn in 1:22 at 182 and Matt Mullen pinned Walker Meckes in :49 at 195.

At 220, Triton Central’s Jacob Cooper led Tristenn Miller 5-0 after the first period and 12-1 after the second before going on to the 14-3 victory.

Rushville’s Nick Hornaday took a forfeit at 285. Randy Collyer took a forfeit at 106 and Zach Roszell took a forfeit at 113.
