Lions second in track sectional

RUSHVILLE — CONNERSVILLE – The host Spartans of Connersville ended the 2-year run for Rushville as track sectional champions. Connersville tallied 150 points to claim the sectional crown. The Lions finished second with 130 followed by Richmond 125, Centerville 54, Cambridge City Lincoln 47, Franklin County 35, Hagerstown 25, Union County 23, Northeastern 21, Tri 7 and Oldenburg Academy 3.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional at Connersville Thursday.

Rushville’s Joe Garland advanced in two events as he won the shot put with a toss of 50-9 and the discus with a distance of 148-11.5.

Zach Keim took third place in the long jump at 19-9.75 with Shawn Valentine sixth at 19-3. Keim was also third in the pole vault at 10-0 with Jon Seals fourth at 10-0.

Jeremy Hallgarth took sixth place in the high jump at 5-6.

Rushville’s 3200 relay team posted a winning time of 8:18.62. The 1600 team was second in 3:32.11 and the 400 relay team was third in :45.84.

Rushville’s Zach Turner won the 300 hurdles in :41.11 and took fourth in the 110 hurdles at :16.28. Hallgarth was fourth in the 300 hurdles in :42.31 and fifth in the 110 hurdles in :16.85.

In the 3200, Rushville’s Dalton Miller took fifth in 10:54.03 with Evan Dyer sixth in 10:59.25.

Ryan Fogg placed fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:55.11. Dyer was fifth in 4:5612.

In the 800, Nick Zepeda finished fifth in 2:09.16 with Ashton Wilson 16th in 2:20.79.

Zepeda won the 400 in :51.04 with Wilson second in :51.98.

Sam Beavers finished eighth in the 200 in :24.37.
