GREENFIELD – The Connersville Spartans won the Greenfield-Central Cougar Chase by just six points over Rushville.
The Spartans tallied 161 for first place followed by Rushville 155, Franklin 124, Greenfield 113, Eastern Hancock 62, Horizon Christian 23 and Irvington Prep 0.
The Lions opened with another strong performance from the 3200 relay team of Nick Zepeda, Ashton Wilson, Patrick Duffy and Ryan Fogg. The team took first in 8:32.05.
The 400 relay team of Zach Keim, Shawn Valentine, Austin Clark and Sam Beavers won in :45.90.
In the 1600 relay, the team of Wilson, Beavers, Zepeda and Austin Dwenger won in 3:30.25.
Zepeda won the 400 in :51.51 with Dwenger fifth in :55.74.
Wilson won the 800 with a time of 2:04.25.
Joe Garland swept the shot put and discus – winning the shot put with a PB distance of 50-0.5 and the discus with a PB 147-3.
Beavers finished third in the 200 at :24.26.
Zach Turner was third in the 110 hurdles in :15.93 with Jeremy Hallgarth fourth in :16.71. Turner returned to take second in the 300 hurdles with Hallgarth fifth.
Clark took sixth in the 100 at :11.93 and seventh in the 200 at :25.12.
Evan Dyer finished third in the 1600 with a time of 4:52.77. Ryan Fogg was fifth in 4:58.10. In the 3200, Dyer was third in a personal best 10:21.53. Dalton Miller was sixth in a PB 10:46.84 and David Fogg was eighth in a PB 11:13.
Hallgarth was seventh in the high jump at 5-6.
Keim finished third in the long jump at 18-5.5 with Valentine fourth at 18-5. Keim also was third in the pole vault with a PB 12-0. Jon Seals had a PB 10-0 for eighth.
Luke Sheehan also had a PB 2:14.87 in the 800.
The Lions compete in the HHC meet at Mt. Vernon Thursday.
