Lady Marauders win 3-team meet

PENDLETON – On a rainy day in Pendleton, the Lady Lions took on the host Lady Arabians and Mt. Vernon in a 3-team track meet. The Lady Marauders took top honors with 70 points followed by Pendleton Heights 64 and Rushville 33.

“This was our first meet in almost two weeks due to weather, so I really felt like the girls were trying to find their way back to competing. Mt. Vernon and Pendleton are the two best teams in our conference, so this was going to be great competition regardless of our infrequent practices due to weather,” Coach Jim Helsley noted. “This is the first of six meets in two weeks, so I’m really interested in seeing how our times, distances, and heights improve from now until the end of that stretch.”

Kayla Shelton won the discus event for the Lady Lions and Ellie Sammons was second in the shot put.

Regan Laker finished second in the hurdles.

Jacquelyn Hastings was second in both the long jump and the high jump.

The 400 relay team of Autumn Meece, Mikayla Dougherty, Marisa Hall and Hastings finished second.
