The BRMS eighth-grade girls Red defeated Mt. Vernon 20-11 for its first win of the season. Madison Owen led the Lady Cubs with eight points.
Megyn Kirchoff finished with seven. Casey Chabre had three and Kassie Herbert added two.
The Lady Cubs then fell at Union County 23-17. Chabre had six points followed by Kirchoff and Owens both with four, Savanna Cain two and Herbert one.
The seventh-grade boys Black defeated Greenfield in the opening round of the 4-team tournament. Zach Hoeing and Austyn Farley led the Cubs with six points each. Landis Gettinger, Cole Carmony and Owen Wiles all had three points. Rufus Noe and Jensen Wood both added two points.
In the championship game, the Cubs were defeated by Shelbyville. The Cubs again had balanced scoring as Gettinger, Noe and Crosby Jackman all had four points. Carmony, Farley and Wiles all had two. Adam Leising had one.
The BRMS eighth-grade girls Black fell to Greenfield-Central 43-27 then defeated Mt. Vernon 49-35. For the Lady Cubs Ash had 29 followed by Adkins eight, Fogg seven, Markley three and Flannery two.
Lion frosh basketball
The Lion freshman basketball team finished the regular season with a two- game winning streak.
The Lions defeated Union County 29-23. Leading the Lions was Jim Jones with 17 points. Noah Nigh added six points. Jaret Sons had three points. Wesley Green had two points and Garrett McLaughlin hit a free throw to round out the scoring. The Lions (4-13) capped the season by defeated Knightstown 35-27. Sons led the Lions with 17 points. Jones added eight and Nigh had five. Andrew Winzenread finished with three and McLaughlin had two.
