Twisters slip by Lions, 3-2

---- — BATESVILLE – The Oldenburg Academy Twisters won a pair of three set matches against Rushville en route to the 3-2 victory over the Lions in tennis action Wednesday. The Lions are now 1-8 on the season.

“We might have let one get away tonight that we should’ve won. Our kids feel like they have a mountain to climb every match and it’s disappointing to let one slip away that we had a chance to win,” Coach Holly Heuer said.

The Lions picked up a win at No. 1 singles where Jake Fowler defeated Josh Hollingsworth 6-4, 6-0. The other Rushville win came at No. 2 doubles where the team of Adam Martin and Andrew Rice defeated Nathan Hubert and Clay Hunger 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, Paul Hershberger lost in three sets 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 to Luke Hammoor. At No. 3 singles, Will Hogsett lost in three to Calvin Shenk 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

At No. 1 doubles, Brandon Slaton and Michael St. John lost 6-0, 6-1 to Nick Bischoff and Sam Gast.

In junior varsity singles, Chase Hamilton won 8-3 over Tanner Alley.
