Visiting Pendleton Heights claimed a 5-0 victory over the Lions in tennis action Thursday. The Lions are 1-7 overall.
“We always enjoy our encounters with the Arabians. They are a well-coached team of knowledgeable and mannerly players and we appreciate Coach Hammel’s efforts in that regard. We are not lighting up the win column this year but it is not for lack of effort,” Coach Holly Heuer said. “We continue to gain valuable experience with each match and one day, down the road, it will begin to add up for us.”
At No. 1 singles, Jake Fowler lost 6-0, 6-3 to Ben Augsburger. Paul Hershberger fell 6-0, 6-2 to Zach Howe at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Will Hogsett lost 6-2, 6-2 to Evan Crooke.
In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Brandon Slaton and Michael St. John lost 6-1, 6-0 to Sam McKinney and Mitch Staley. At No. 2 doubles, Andrew Rice and Adam Martin fell 6-2, 6-1 to J.D. Thompson and Noah Fawcell.
In junior varsity singles action, Chase Hamilton lost 8-0 to Noah Garr and 8-2 to Brady Alumbaugh.
