Lady Pirates shut out Lady Lions

RUSHVILLE — GREENSBURG – The host Lady Pirates of Greensburg defeated the Lady Lions 5-0 in varsity tennis action. The Lady Lions are 4-8 overall on the season.

“I think the girls might need a break. Illness and mental fatigue are taking their toll,” Coach Heuer noted.

At No. 1 singles, Allison Wainwright fell 6-0, 6-0 to Danielle Schroeder. At No. 2 singles, Rosella Troyer lost 6-0, 6-0 to Kaeli Fong. Sarah Harpring lost at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1 to Claire Welage.

At No. 1 doubles, Jill Yager and Casey Yager lost 6-2, 6-3 to Courtney Nelson and Caroline Pratt. At No. 2 doubles, Nici Martin and Lucy Dyer fell 6-3, 7-6 to Oliva Slusher and Abigail Bailey.

In junior varsity results, Haley Riddell won 8-6. Katie Schroeder won 8-2. Sarah Schombert lost 8-5. Abbe Whitaker won 8-2. Sarah Hershberger and Breanna Ison lost 8-5. Larissa Dun and Riko Itakura lost 8-1 and 6-2. Natali Miller and Courtney Hall won 8-5. Kelly Lee and Samantha Fowler also won 8-5.
