---- — In three close sets, the Lady Lions knocked off visiting Franklin County in EIAC volleyball action Wednesday. The Lady Lions won 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 to improve to 7-2 on the season.
For the Lady Lions, Allison Wainwright tallied three aces, four kills and a team-high 13 digs. Casey Yager finished with two kills, two blocks and one assist. Jacquelyn Hastings had one ace, four kills, one block and eight digs. Kayla Shelton finished with four kills, one assist and one dig. Keely Springman added two kills, 21 assists and two digs. Keragan Niehoff led the offense with nine kills to go with one ace, one block and 10 digs. McKenzie Woolston added seven aces and three digs. Tessa Hoeing had one kill and two digs.
“I am proud of the way both the JV and the varsity teams came back from a loss the night before to get the win. We played well as a team,” Coach Meagan Hearne said. “Good passes allowed us to set up our hitters who had a very good night with 26 kills as a team.”
The junior varsity Lady Lions won in three sets 25-16, 24-25, 15-10.
For the Lady Lions, Brenna Hall had two aces and one dig. Carissa Comstock had two aces, three digs and nine assists. Darbi Mello had one ace, five kills, two digs and one assist. Emma Harpring finished with one ace, one kill and one assist. Mekyna Hall had two aces, three kills and two digs. Tori Colestock had two aces, seven kills, two blocks and two assists. Kelly Brown had two kills and Cammi Miller had two digs.
“The girls played really hard all night and played as a team to come back and win in three sets,” Coach Audra Springman said. “I’m very proud of the girls continued improvement each game.”
Spikers drop two at Greensburg
GREENSBURG – The Lady Lions volleyball team traveled to EIAC foe Greensburg Tuesday and was defeated in the varsity contest 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15 and in the junior varsity match in two sets.
The varsity squad is now 6-2 on the season.
For the Lady Lions, Allison Wainwright had one ace, four kills, one block and eight digs. Casey Yager added five kills and two blocks. Jacquelyn Hastings contributed one kill, four blocks, one assist and six digs. Kayla Shelton tallied five kills and two digs. Keely Springman finished with one kill, one block, 18 assists and nine digs. McKenzie Woolston had two aces and one kill. Tessa Hoeing finished with one kill and eight digs.
For the junior varsity squad, Kelly Brown and Mekyna Hall both had one ace and one dig. Tori Colestock added one kill, two blocks and one assist. Darbi Mello had one kill and three digs. Carissa Comstock added one assist and three digs. Cammi Miller, Fran Percell and Kayla Aldridge all had one dig.
The Lady Lions host Oldenburg Academy, Centerville and Charles Tindley in an invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday.
